About five years ago, we decided we where ready to receive travelers from all over the world in our home. We had made a beautiful guest room with a great bathroom and experienced great fun with family relatives and friends of friends. More and more people found the way to our house. And we really really enjoyed showing people around in Amsterdam. Some would like to see museums, some more the nightlife. So many people so many wishes. We where there to for fill them. What a enormous joy did that give. So one morning I woke up and decided to make it my profession. So that's when Fleur d' Amsterdam started. And we never ever regretted that! What a opportunity to meet new people and enjoy each others stories. Since then we have had the opportunity to meet new friends. And so we did!

Fleur van Heek purchased this house in 2006

This location is just outside the busy noisy city centre of Amsterdam. We do have the café 's, bars and good restaurants. But we don't have the drunk, loud and crazy tourists that scum the inner city of Amsterdam day and night. So nice clean air, peaceful nights and a green oasis just outside your doorstep. 10 minutes with the bike ( provided) or the tram, and you are back in town. That's why we think we own the best place in town, and numerous have told us just that!!!

I live in this city of Amsterdam now for almost 30 years, and each day while biking through this city, I feel the blessing of living in one of the most inspiring Cities of the World! Me, a girl from the countryside, feel like a bee in the honeypot every day! Come and stay with us, and I'll tell you all about our experiences and everything we have learned from our guests!!

VERY NICE PROPERTY

  • 4 out of 5
This is a great little B&B, clean, comfortable and well maintained. It is a bit out of town so you will take the tram and then walk several blocks. The owners are great: Very nice people, excellent breakfast, museum cards and information cheerfully and accurately provided make the reasonable cost even more reasonable. I would recommend this property to ambulatory friends.

CHARMING HOSTESS, LOVELY FAMILY, GREAT CITY

  • 5 out of 5
Fleur and her family bend over backwards to make your stay in Amsterdam enjoyable. Breakfasts are excellent (even when she leaves town and older son, Jan, is in charge), room is comfortable, museum pass is a real plus. Fleur knows everything about the city worth knowing and has all sorts of good advice for a visitor. Even after a short stay, I think I have a friend in Amsterdam. She even arranged a ride to the airport for us. One caveat: the walk from the tram to the house is long for anyone with walking problems, which I had at the time. But the friendly environment makes up for it. Be sure to bring an umbrella to Amsterdam; it rains a lot. I hope we can visit again. Dina Fulmer, Pittsburgh, PA

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  • 5 out of 5
We prefer to stay in B&B’s, agriturismos, etc. when we travel, so when my wife found Fleur d’ Amsterdam on homeaway.com, it looked ideal. It turns out it was. The owner, Fleur, assisted us with our pre-travel arrangements, made arrangements for us to get from/to Schiphol Airport, and once we arrived, she advised us on the best way to get around Amsterdam (multi-day tram passes), assisted with museum tickets, offered suggestions of what to see and do once she knew our schedule and preferences. The accommodations were excellent: it was like staying in a friend’s home (in retrospect, we were). The neighborhood was quiet and safe, and tram access to everywhere we wanted to go was just a couple of blocks away. We met Fleur’s husband, two of her lovely children, the cat, the chickens, etc. If you stay here, be sure to notice the "stumble stones" on the sidewalk outside - very touching.

PERFECT PLACE TO STAY IN AMSTERDAM

  • 5 out of 5
This was a great place to stay in nice local neighborhood. Fleur, our hostess, couldn't have more gracious. My wife and I stayed for a week in the downstairs bedroom with our own bathroom. Every morning we had a great breakfast of fresh bread and rolls, yogurt, fresh orange juice, and fresh eggs from her chickens.

We came in from Brussels on the train, so took the tram from the central train station to within 4 blocks of her house. It was a nice quiet neighborhood of locals. We bought a weekly tram & bus pass outside the station, so we had unlimited rides for the entire week. She also gave us passes for all the major museums for our use, which we thought very generous, and saved us a lot of money. We found it very easy to get around the city and even into the country one day using public transportation from her house.

The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We had a flat screen TV with many channels in English. Also free wifi which was fast.

When we left, having just carry on luggage, we were able to take the tram to the station and then the train to the airport. We can highly recommend this as great place to stay when in Amsterdam.

WARM, HOMEY, AND WILL DEFINITELY RETURN

  • 5 out of 5
When I bought plane tickets for Europe, and we included Amsterdam in our itinerary, I knew that I wanted to have an authentic experience from a locals perspective. I had lived in London and traveled Europe extensively in 2006/2007, including Amsterdam. When I went the first time, we stayed in an expensive hotel on one of the canal rings in the city center. It was great, but I knew if I returned, I wanted to see another side of the city. This trip was going to be unique anyways as I was traveling with my husband and my parents. The three of them had never visited Amsterdam, so luckily they were willing to take a leap of faith and agree with me on the vrbo experience I wanted.

When I found Fleur, I liked that it was outside city center in a quiet neighborhood--to me that screamed local authentic experience. And with the tram only about a 7 minutes walk from Fleur's house, all of the sights, markets, restaurants, nightlife and walks were just a quick tram ride to city center. I would say it took 15/20 minutes by tram to get to Centraal Train Station from Fleurs tram stop.

Being at Fleurs was more than I could have hoped for. More than all four of us could have hoped for. To be honest, it was a little nerve racking. None of us had done a home stay like this before. My husband and I were also booked to use the upstairs room with the shared bath--again a little nerve racking. However, it turned out that we didn't need to worry. Fleur, Coen and their kids were so kind, wonderful, helpful, and made Amsterdam the highlight of our trip.

Every morning Fleur and her husband would serve us breakfast consisting of fresh breads, croissants, jams, meats, cheese, yogurts, butters and creams, fresh squeezed orange juice, lattes, cappuccinos and teas. Over breakfast we would discusses at length our plans for the day and receive feedback and suggestions and directions. We also just chatted like old friends do...it was so easy. We loved it there and felt at home.

I would recommend this property to any of my friends visiting Amsterdam and hope one day soon, to be able to return.

*If you are unable to climb many steep stairs, make sure that you book the downstairs guest suite with its own bathroom.
