A stunning apartment (360 degeres photos availale on http://altamira360.com/lasbuganvillas ), situated in the heart of the walled city, declared common heritage of mankind by UNESCO, very close to the Church and Plaza Santo Domingo. From its external balcony, you can appreciate the beauty of narrow streets . Only a few meters away, you will come across the famous bronze statue 'La Gorda' by the renown sculptor and painter Botero. You can also enjoy different cultural performances on the square, such as music and dance, and also sample superb gastronomy in one of the most beautiful cities of Colombia and the Caribbean, recognized as the patrimony of mankind by UNESCO.
The apartment is 135 square meters long, situated on the first floor of a two level apartment. The entrance leads to a reception/dining room, which is part of the original construction of a XVII century home. The reception/dining room is nine meters long and five meters wide and some 10 meters high.
The kitchen is spacious and functional; the colonial balcony is large and delightful, covered with bougainvilleas and palms. A corridor leads to the second bedroom, also with an en suite bathroom. At the centre of the reception/dining room we come across a room which is designed as a waiting room but which can also be used as the third bedroom as it is equipped with a double sofa bed. A metal spiraling staircase from the beginning of XX century leads to the principal bedroom with an en suite bathroom, with a view to the reception from an internal balcony.
The perfect location of this apartment is one of its principal attractions, as is the roof terrace with a view of the sea and old town including the Cathedral which is illuminated at night. The interior design is particularly elegant, a work of an international designer. Its decoration is suited for the use of families on holidays, executives, officials and diplomats as it can also serve as an office or long term occupancy.
All elements of technology and comfort include Internet Wi-Fi, two TV plasmas, Cable TV, telephone line with unlimited use for local calls, and a home theatre. It also has washing/drying machine, hob and gas oven and a microwave. A maid is available part time to maintain the apartment and cook international meals. We also offer the services of a bilingual hairdresser, nurse, baby sitter, masseuse and driver at market prices.
Location: Only meters away from Plaza Santo Domingo, Plaza de Bolivar, Inquisition Palace, Plaza San Pedro, Plaza de la Aduana and Plaza de los Coches. Viktor is an international lawyer and journalist who moved to Cartagena to escape harsh European winters. He bought this property to preserve its architectural heritage: most of what used to be called 'salon principal' in grand houses from 17th century have now been converted into multiple apartments, taking advantage of their enormous height. This apartment faithfully reflects rich historic tradition of Cartagena and will now be preserved as part of the architectural patrimony of this walled city.
Cartagena is the only completely preserved walled city in the Americas and easily easily competes with rennaissance and baroque cities of Europe, and elsewhere in Central, South Amefrica and the Caribbean with perfect climate and twelve months bathing season.
You will feel transported centuries back in this 17th century house, and yet enjoy all the modern amenities
