About this property

North West Pennsylvania - Family Reunions; Weddings; Hunting

A delightful and authentic visit to the Pennsylvania Wilds! The secluded large rustic lodge consists of two side by side wings (buildings) connected by a deck walkway. Each wing has three levels. There are 18 rooms in all, each having lovely views of the surrounding forest. Multiple living room areas accommodate comfortable reading and relaxation spaces as well as venues for crafts, cards, board games and group exchanges. Libraries invite browsing. Expansive decks at the second level of each wing encourage similar activities outside.

There is a fully-equipped large kitchen with an adjacent large dining area; a kitchenette is also available for additional food preparation. Many cooks can comfortably work together without concern for “spoiling the broth.” (Guests are, of course, responsible for their own food. Recommendations for catering services and local restaurants will be available. (It should be noted, however, that restaurants and grocery stores are at least nine miles away.)

Although the lodge is rustic it is well-appointed with comfort features such as hot water baseboard heat fueled by natural gas from wells on the property. Some floors are oak hardwood; others are carpeted. Creative touches introduced by the owner-builder throughout the buildings surprise and delight guests.

A large barn (unheated) is available for indoor activities such as weddings, active game playing, dancing, dramatic performances, presentations to groups, yoga, tai chi, or whatever activity requires a large open space. The barn, like the lodge, has large decks for enjoying the woodland landscape. The barn is available from Mid-May through September.

There is a pond on the property and trails for walking through the 300 acres of fields and forests. Guests particularly enjoy the photographic opportunities and nature study. Outdoor activities are available including campfires and games such as croquet and volleyball.

The lodge is located on a 300 acre property perfect for going out and hunting and coming back to the cozy lodge.

The setting is suitable for gatherings, parties, retreats, reunions, weddings, workshops, receptions, and all kinds of music and social events. There is plenty of parking space for large events. Please call 814-964-7340 with any questions, or search Woodland Lodge on the web!

Great place for any event
Amazing place for any large or small gathering. Enough space for everybody to have their own privacy as well as everyone else to hang out and enjoy time together. Was winter time when we were up there and was still a great spot. Would love to see how this place is in spring and summertime. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful reunion spot
I booked this lovely property for a reunion of college friends. We had a truly wonderful time. The kids loved the ping-pong table. The adults loved the huge kitchen and large seating areas to catch up and just visit. We were thrilled with the stock of kitchen supplies, everything from cookie sheets to crock pots to cork screws! Whitney was very welcoming and friendly. She was available to us during our entire stay, but we didn't need to bother her. The place is laid out so well we were able to easily find everything we needed. I'd gladly book her place again for a future reunion. We had so much fun, I can't imagine we won't do it again.

Amazing family reunion
We had 10 adults and 6 small children and had a blast. There was so much room for the kids to run around in the house. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

About the host

I am the on-site manager. I live at the lodge. It is a wonderful place to wake up every day. All the views are amazing and it is so quite and peaceful. I do a lot of kayaking in the summer, so I am not around the lodge much when I have guests. I enjoy meeting new people each week.
My family owns a few business. We make maple syrup and have a sawmill, which is where I work. I sell our maple syrup at the lodge. It's delicious!

Why they chose this property

We are very interested in sustainable forestry and maintaining wooded properties in our area as “working forests”. We have tried to exemplify this type of forest management through very careful and conservative logging practices along with the production of maple syrup on several properties. This resulted in us being named PA Tree Farmer of the Year in 2013. We love the Lodge, and want people to see how beautiful the forest is.

What makes this property unique

The property offers the now-rare opportunity to vacation in a beautiful natural setting, remote from traffic, fast food, and the 'hurry' of modern life. It has the positive features of a camping trip yet the rustic accommodations are comfortable and well-appointed.
