Great haven on Kauai

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our first trip to Kauai. We are adventurous hikers and Hale Keo was a great retreat to come back to each evening. Its central location made it easy to see all the island has to offer as well as reach many of the trailheads. We appreciated being away from the congested areas of town, but still had all we could have needed within a very short distance. Hale Keo is well equipped from kitchen to beach equipment. We only stayed a week, but would have felt comfortable staying much longer. The hosts, Lorraine and Luis were very accomodating hosts while still giving us our privacy. We had a beautiful visit to Kauia and to Hale Keo. Thank You.

A perfect launch-pad for a visit to Kauai.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Hawaii and Kauai and we could not be more pleased with our location and our time on this amazing island. Kalaheo felt like a small town and not a tourist destination. We were in close proximity to beaches and plenty of tourist friendly destinations, but the return to Hale Keo felt like coming home.

The space had everything we needed and wanted while still feeling very minimal and relaxing. It was just the right size. The living area was big enough, while still feeling cozy. The kitchen was well equipped and available to the living area. The bedroom was spacious with loads of storage area. Most of all, the outside space was serene and beautiful--a wonderful place for the perfect cup of Kauai Coffee (just up the street) and fresh fruit.

To experience a place that you are visiting but feel as though you live in, is a great gift. The hosts made very sure that we had everything that we might need and provided great tips and ideas for exploring the island. We visited the "must-sees" and did the "must dos" but they also directed us to places where locals hang out. Their guidance was spot-on based on what we wanted to see and do. We had plenty of sight seeing, beach going, fabulous meals, hikes, waterfalls, amazing views, snorkeling and some unforeseen adventures. We feel very lucky to have stayed here for our first visit, but can imagine that our second and third will be well suited to this incredible retreat.

Thank you for the space and to our wonderful hosts.

kauai lover

Can't say enough about this delightful property! My husband and I spent three weeks here, Jan.-Feb. 2014. Lovely garden apartment with everything you could need or want included. The large, beautiful lanai is extra special, and the neighborhood is pretty and quiet. Kalaheo is centrally located, easy to get to beaches, hiking, shopping, etc. Hosts Rich and Gayle were awesome...friendly, informative and available if needed. They even provided a lovely welcome basket. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend this rental to family and friends. We plan to return here in the

future.

Laid Back Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

As a newly retired couple, my wife and myself wanted to visit Kauai and stay at place located close to everything, but yet away from the bustling tourist areas. This cozy rental in a quiet upscale residential neighborhood in Kalaheo is just that sort of a place. It was very comfortable in every respect but the covered lanai was my favorite hang-out when we were not out doing something. Some days we just lazed out there all day with the geckos and drank Mai-Tai's looking down to the ocean and Poipu. Rich and Gayle were most affable and generous hosts, and we enjoyed several evenings in their company. Every one of their recommendations regarding activities and dining were spot on, and they kindly let us use some of the beach gear from the house to take on our adventures to the many wonderful snorkeling and swimming beaches on Kauai. I can't wait to go back, and I would be happy to stay at this location any time. If you have any questions at all, Rich and Gail have outstanding knowledge of the area and they work hard to keep this gem clean and immaculate. Now for my personal favorites: Most reasonable tropical location 9-hole golf course ever--Kukuiolono (close by and a great place for a romantic and scenic evening stroll). Best snorkeling--Tunnels in the north, The Beach House in the south. Coolest sunset cocktail cruise--Holoholo charters out of Port Allen. Best breakfast and coffee--Kalaheo Café. Best Mai-Tai's--Keoki's (if you don't mind that one or two of Kauai's billion or so wild chickens will be doing their thing inside the place. Most exciting view activity--Birds of Paradise power hang glider "lessons". Best Fish Taco--Island Taco in Waimea. Best place to make your dollar stretch for booze and food--Costco. Best get-away from-it-all scenic beach--Secret Beach in Princeville. The rest you will have to discover for yourself when you go but Rich and Gayle can get you pointed in the right direction.

Nice and quiet place, great for relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had been looking for a nice place to stay for the first time on Kauai and luckily we found this wonderful apartment in Kalaheo. The hosts were amazing and extremely helpful. They provided us with a ton of great information about places to visit and restaurants to try; they also welcomed us with a very nice gift basket. The apartment was clean, quiet and it had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the wonderful lanai. Thank you again for making our stay so enjoyable.
