I grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, two towns over from OOB. Graduated from CEHS 1974. Live in Connecticut now, but still love the whole Portland area and the ocean especially. Salt air is good for the soul.
Steven Nielsen purchased this house in 2003
There's just something about this house. Warm, cozy, it just says 'relax.' The porch is great -- always a breeze. As a musician, for me the term 'adagio' perfectly decribes this place: in a leisurely manner.
Lots of interesting built-ins. Corner lot provides plenty of parking.
ROCKSTAR ! Thank you very much! Thanks for everything. We will be looking for a week to come back next June as well.
My family and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the property listed above. The house was clean and close to everything. The fenced in yard was perfect with having two small children and two dogs. I would recommend this house to anyone. I cannot wait to come back!
The house is very nice and well appointed. The yard being fenced in really allows the kids in the group to be able to play without us being concerned. The house was clean and just the right size for a family vacation. When we were there, the broadband connection was not working, but Steve was able to get it corrected quickly and efficiently. He was very responsive and was very nice to work with. Thank you for a lovely time!
Overall, the stay was pleasant. The house was moderately equipped with everything you could need, but I kept feeling like we would run out of paper goods before the time was up (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.). Also, bring your own coffee filters and kitchen sponge! Air conditioning was on main floor only and not adjustable. Upstairs had none. One bedroom had no fan. The location was good; a short walk to the beach and to the pier. My favorite was the ample brochures, personal recommendations and candles.
Accomodations had everything you would need. Steven was very responsive and helpful about the home and the area. The children loved it as they were close to both the beach and the pier, and everything was in walking distance. We are looking forward to going back and enjoying the home again next year!
We had a great stay in Old Orchard Beach. The home is exactly what you would expect. Comfortable king bed, relaxing screen porch, nice size kitchen and small but serviceable bathroom. The house is close to everything. Lobster - yep, pizza - yep, ocean - yep. Prices in OOB are very reasonable and several great places are just a short drive away. Owner was very helpful and prompt with any questions we had. We would definitely recommend to friends and family looking for a relaxing vacation on the coast of Maine!
We loved the house. Within walking distance of the beach, the pier and the Seaside Pavilion, we seldom drove during our week in OOB, enjoying our chance to walk throughout the day. Well-furnished, our family appreciated the amenities, especially the old-time video game! We'd definitely rent again.
Consensus best beach in Maine, 7 miles of white sand. Loads of things to do and see.
20 minutes from Portland -- spend one day in the Old Port district! Great shopping, restaurants and waterfront cobblestone streets. Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA minor league).
30 minutes to Cape Elizabeth -- scenic Portland Head Light, the most painted and photographed lighthouse in USA, at Fort Williams and Two Lights and Crescent Beach State Parks.
45 minutes to Freeport-- home of LLBean.
Other Activities: miniature golf (Pirate's Cove), kayaking, harness racing (Scarborough Downs). Seaside Pavillion (summer concert venue operated by Salvation Army -- they book great events!)
Baseball: Rookie League plays at The Ballpark in OOB, Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA affiliate).
Golf: Dunegrass Country Club (public) is better than average, 5 minute ride. Biddeford/Saco Country Club (semi-private) is challenging (state high school championship course) and 10 minutes away. Dutch Elm Country Club in Arundel is about 20 minutes and a little easier course.
