Take yourself back in time when you stay at La Palazzina, a 200 year old - renovated Tuscan villa with a view that will take your breath away.
Perched on its hilltop 1500 feet high, La Palazzina overlooks the gently rolling Apennine foothills and the plains of the Valtiberina, the Upper Tiber Valley. The house and nearby renovated barn have been carefully restored with exposed wood beams and terra cotta floors, yet appointed with all modern kitchens and baths. This private 27 acre gated estate boasts a swimming pool, screens on all windows and almost 6000 square feet of living space for 16 guests. The grounds include almond, cypress and olive trees, terraces and walkways with potted plants, flowers and fruit trees.
This is pure country living, serene and tranquil. Yet just 5 minutes away you will find the shops, restaurants and galleries of Sansepolcro, a beautifully preserved medieval walled city and the birthplace of Renaissance painter, Piero della Francesca. Four of his paintings can be seen in the town's Civic Museum, including his masterpiece 'The Resurrection'.
Sansepolcro, 30 minutes from Arezzo (the heart of Italy), offers visitors first-hand knowledge of what life is really like in Italy, away from the crowds, the long lines and traffic congestion. Here Italians describe life as 'vivibile', livable. Here you will experience the real Italy as residents go out of their way to make you feel at home. Sansepolcro hosts two outdoor markets a week that sell clothing, jewelry and household items as well as locally produced oil, wine, cheese, meats and breads. The surrounding area, where local festivals abound, is dotted with ancient churches, castles and abbeys. The second weekend in September, the town also hosts its famed Palio della Balestra, the annual crossbow tournament, complete with parades, pageantry, and colorful medieval costumes.
Because of its strategic location, La Palazzina provides easy accessibility for day trips to both Tuscany and Umbria, to towns such as Florence, Cortona, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio.
Come bask in culture and history. Celebrate the perfect wedding in Tuscany in these beautiful surroundings. Or simply sit by the pool, sip wine, eat almonds and figs you've picked yourself, admire the spectacular view and allow the gentle hilltop breezes to envelope you with a sense of peace and tranquility.
