Relax in our new custom built home on 7 1/2 private fenced and gated acres with panoramic Glacier Park vistas of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy the views and solitude from the expansive redwood deck overlooking active beaver ponds where wildlife and birds abound. Moose, bear, deer, fox, waterfowl, and songbirds are frequent visitors where they share with us the natural beauty of Montana. Our home is sheltered in a gently sloping aspen
grove with berry bushes, dogwood, and marsh grasses surrounding the ponds. The property is located two miles from the village of East Glacier Park (Amtrak stop) and from there a short drive to the entrance of Glacier National Park.
The house consists of three bedrooms and two baths. There are two 4' showers and an antique clawfoot tub where one can luxuriate after a long days hike. Each bedroom has mountain and pond views. The two main floor bedrooms each have two twin beds while the upstairs master bedroom has a king bed where the sunsets and alpenglow will amaze you. Go to sleep to the sound of beaver tails slapping the pond surface reminding you of the wilderness around you.
The open floor plan on the main level has 12' ceilings with knotty pine paneling, circular-sawn wood floors, solid maple kitchen cabinetry, and limitless views of mountain peaks. Sit in the comfortable living room recounting your days events or daydreaming as you overlook the ponds, Mt. Henry and Scenic Point. The dining area has a large oak table with seating for up to ten dinner guests. In building our dream home, much thought and effort went into designing the kitchen. In this large space you have the accoutrements and prep area to create the simplest of Montana breakfasts to the haute cuisine of a gourmet 5 star restaurant.
The optional sleeping cabin can accommodate two guests with a double futon bed and a twin bed, electric heat. It has rustic pine paneling, wood floors, and views of the main pond and mountain peaks. The cabin has no plumbing but is only a few short steps from the main house. Ask owner about extra charge to use the sleeping cabin.
Whether you are whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing the renowned Blackfeet Reservation lakes or in Glacier Park, summiting the surrounding peaks, hiking the picturesque Glacier Park trails, horseback riding, attending Pow Wow Days in Browning, golfing, sightseeing on the scenic Going to the Sun Road or hiking out your front door on tribal lands, you can be certain that an adventure awaits you in Big Sky Country. No matter where the events of the day may lead you, there is always a warm comfortable home awaiting your return.

The Rocky Mountain Front is one of the true wild places in the lower 48 states. The proximity to Glacier National Park and the surrounding untrammeled lands drew us to this unique location.
We are able to immerse ourselves in the surrounding beauty whether walking around the ponds or relaxing on the sofa gazing out the picture windows.
We had THE BEST experience with Barbara and Phil and their wonderful home! From the booking process to the many amenities that this house affords I felt catered- genuine, caring and thoughtful to anticipate guests needs. My wife, daughter, brother -in-law, his wife and son and I all had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The extra outside cabin was a plus! We are avid hikers and appreciated their insights to off the beaten path trails-we tracked about 45 miles in 4 days and really enjoyed this house to come home to every evening. The kitchen is very well appointed as we cooked some fabulous meals and didn't want for anything to prepare them. First morning we were greeted by a moose and her calf 15 yards from the back porch! We have traveled to Glacier several times and really appreciate the east side of the park-not as crowded. Two Medicine, Many Glacier and trip up to Waterton in Canada are perfect day trips.Don't forget your Passport! Many extras in the house-Bear Spray, Hiking Poles ( nice to not have to pack them).
and so much more. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Glacier is a beautiful place, but what made it even better for us was coming back after a day of hiking to a place that was peaceful and quiet, comfortable and included an incredible view of the mountains. This home is great! We loved the big deck that overlooks the mountains and the small pond on the property. We even saw a small bear and a moose from the house! The view from the master suite on the top floor was spectacular as the sun set over the moutains! You can certainly tell that these owners use and love this home. It was very well stocked, even included maps of Glacier, bear spray and hiking poles which was great for us as novice hikers! The owners were easy to work with and answered many questions about the area. We liked the quieter side of the park on East Glacier. It was a memorable get away for us.
My family of four stayed at this wonderful house for 9 nights. It felt like home. There was careful thought and consideration put into every detail of the house. The views were incredible and I loved going to bed and waking up everyday to the mountain scenery. We enjoyed plentiful wildlife right from the living room; birds, moose, bear and beavers. The location was also perfect. At the house you felt very secluded, but were just a short drive to restaurants, shopping and grocery. It was a pleasure to meet Phil and Barbara and they could not have been anymore helpful. This was by far one of the best vacation houses I have ever rented.
This house was perfect for our week long stay. There were two adults, and two kids (ages 12 and 14) in our party. The house was very clean and had every amenity we needed. We appreciated the small things like the Calphalon pans, laundry detergent, paper towels, trash bags, propane grill, and pepper spray. Phil and Barbara were very easy to work with and answered all of our questions. They even called to make sure we made it in okay. Phil even stopped by to let us know about a cinnamon bear that had been in the area and had gotten into some neighbors trash. Our first night at the house (9:30 p.m.), we saw two moose up on their hind legs "boxing"-very cool!
Hiking: We drove about 1/2 hour from the house and did the Upper Two Medicine Lake hike, where we were fortunate to see another moose. We drove about an hour from the house up to the Many Glacier Hotel and did the Grinnell Glacier hike where bighorn sheep walked right passed us on the trail. We also saw another moose, and a grizzly on the North Shore Lake Josephine Trail. Our third hike was up at Cut Bank (Medicine Grizzly Lake hike) where we saw 2 black bears.
We had a GREAT time, and hanging out at the house was very relaxing. We cannot wait to come back. Thanks Phil and Barbara for sharing your house!
This is a wonderful home and our family felt very fortunate to stay here for a week. Our group - two parents with two young adult "kids" - loved this house. It is in the midst of an amazing wilderness area and we loved seeing the mountain range from the windows and the moose right outside! We felt secluded, but were also very happy to be only two miles from East Glacier. We travelled by Amtrak train, and we were glad to have such a short distance to drive when we got off of the train after dark! This was our first trip to Glacier and we were surprised by the size of the park. We did not want to spend all of our time driving, so did most of our hiking near the house, in the Two Medicine region of the Park. This is the quieter part of the Park, even late in the tourist season, and we appreciated that. This property is immaculate, perfectly maintained, and fully stocked. The owners have excellent taste. It is furnished simply and comfortably. The house has many windows and the views are spectacular. It is a cozy house, too, and our only regret was that it was too warm to make use of the wood stove. The photos, descriptions, and earlier reviews are all accurate. But it is hard to capture in words and pictures how great this place really is! The owners were very helpful and all of the business transactions were smooth. I would recommend this house to anyone. It is truly a treasure.
We had 4 adults and 4 children and the property met our needs wonderfully. We used the guest sleeping cabin for several of the children and that also worked well. The views of the mountain range greet you in the morning and it was fun to overlook the pond. We saw a cow and calf moose on two separate occasions within 50 feet of the house.. In addition, a doe and fawn walked within 10 feet of the house. The property was clean, well stocked, quiet and private. The owners were easy to work with and were very accomodating. We used the house as a base camp for five days of hiking in the park. Highly recommend the Grinell Glacier Trail hike. The drive to Glacier National Park's St. Mary's entrance or the Many Glacier entrance will take approximately one hour. I would rent this house again in the future and would recommend it for others.
