Four night stay in Granada's old quarter in early June 2019
The house was accurately described and felt like a home. We very much appreciated all the details in the decor and the way everything had been left for the enjoyment of guests, so we were even able to play atmospheric Spanish guitar music from the stereo and CDs left at the house. There are games and books in the cellar area. We coincided with an unusually hot spell with temperatures in the mid 30s but there were always cool places on the ground floor and terrace where the thick walls protected us and the breeze could waft through. Sarah was a very attentive host, greeting us and making sure we got our bearings with a very helpful pictorial map home-drawn. Food shops were within 3 minutes and open very long hours till 11pm. This has been one of the most interesting and enjoyable stays in a city we've had, also enriched by the walking tour with local restoration architect Rafael whom Sarah put us in touch with. He gave us insights we could never have learnt from a book. Highly recommended all round.

What a gorgeous house
We stayed here with a couple of friends and we loved it. The house is lovely, in a great location and watching the sun set from the balcony was delightful. Sarah gave us some great recommendations and was really helpful with our arrival and departure times. Highly recommended.

Brilliant position in The Albaicin with fantastic views of The Alhambra.
We loved everything about this property, so full of character and very comfortable for the three of us, myself , my husband and our son. It would certainly accomadate 4 adults and 2 teenagers/ children very easily with extra space in the 'cave' for younger children if needed. It's a very short walk to the local shops and restaurants where you will find everything you need. The walk down to the centre of town is an easy stroll and full of interesting places to stop off and look around, plus cafes abound for the odd coffee on the way. The bus service back up to The Albaicin is reliable and frequent so you don't have to worry about walking back up the hill! We really didn't feel we needed a car during our stay. Sarah is a really helpful hostess and very accommodating, she went out of her way to organise taxis to the airport etc. The bottle of wine she left out for us on our arrival, plus other food stuffs in the fridge were very welcome. We would certainly return to this property if we get the chance to visit Granada again in the future.

Wonderful
We were met by Sarah and Bert who showed us round their lovely house. On arrival they had kindly provided us with orange juice, coffee, biscuits, bread and a bottle of wine. What more could you ask for? The house is situated in the old town with lovely views. We made the most of the terraces especally the one off the main bedroom. It was wonderful to be in the old town and then just a short work into the city. We stayed for 4 nights but could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back.

We are a family of 4 .We moved here in 2001 and haven´t looked back. We came for some adventure and a good- hearted place to bring up our kids & have not been disappointed.
The beauty, culture and history of Granada has kept us stimulated and we have all grown to love this place ,its people and the lifestyle .

Why they chose this property

We were stunned by the beauty and feel of the Albayzin on our first visit.Later we started to inquire about houses for sale. Our house was the first one we looked at and the search stopped there .It was only a shell but it had & has an atmosphere hard to capture in a photo. The previous owner was Laura de los Rios the niece of Garcia Lorca- Granadas famous poet. She bought it for its light atmosphere and privacy all rare qualities in the houses here.
It is our desire to live here in the near future. A thank you to all our guests for helping us in this quest.
Also we are very lucky to be able to drive to the door of the house as the Albayzin is a restricted zone & many of the cobbled streets don´t have access. To keep it quiet & traffic free our street has a barrier that is up between 11am -2pm & after 8pm( you can always exit!)If you arrive during these times just park up and walk down to the house-When the barrier lifts you can bring your car closer.

What makes this property unique

The Caves which would have been the original house . They are always cool in Summer and warm in winter we are very lucky to have them as an integral part of the house .
Our house is only a few minutes from the city center but above the pollution Also a few minutes from the sierra behind the Albayzin -for endless walks or cycling.
The incredible sunsets.
