Incredible home that is so close to the beach; you can smell the fresh ocean air!
My boyfriend and I were looking for the perfect getaway to PR and came across this listing. The home is even more beautiful in person. And it has all the amenities a traveler would need. We knew we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of a tourist mecca such as San Juan. Isabela was the ideal choice and the location of this beautiful home proved to be perfect. The homeowner, Hank, was amazing and easy to work with and so very helpful. Nancy, the woman who cares for the home, was a saint and also very helpful. The neighborhood was quaint and very neighborly. The bakery across the street can be deliciously dangerous…I mean, who can resist those sweet delights?! We couldn’t! Also, there is a wonderful restaurant (El Anzuelo Grill and Cantina) located a few miles away with THE BEST crab cakes I’ve ever tasted. Also, Ola Lola’s is a great place to visit for craft beer and awesome food and atmosphere. Look up both places when you arrive.
We would also recommend visiting the Guajataca Forest and hiking the trail to the caves. Bring a headlamp or flashlight for the caves because it’s very dark once you start to explore inside. If you feel the urge to travel to San Juan, leave early and visit the old forts. It’s VERY touristy and parking is virtually impossible, but the forts are nice.
The beach is also only a hop, skip and a jump away and I took that opportunity to learn to surf! We had such a great time and it wouldn’t have been possible without Hank providing us with great ideas of must-sees in the area. The locals were amazing and welcoming. And it was so nice to immerse ourselves in the culture. If you are traveling to PR, this is the place to stay.
Thanks for everything!
