A native of Redding. I enjoy family time, gardening and travel. I purchased this home as a weekend retreat. To enjoy the cooler summer weather, to rest and relax. I work as a Nurse Practitioner at Planned Parenthood in Redding and part time as Realtor with Shasta Association of Realtors of Redding.

Mary Williamson purchased this house in 2008

At the door to Lassen National Park. This is a great area to explore or just relax. Fishing, wine tasting, hiking, snowmobiling and Eskimo Hill are a few of the local activities.

This Charming Log Home is surrounded by lots of tall pine trees. Situated at the end of a quiet cul de sac this home offers privacy and seclusion. Rock BBQ, children's play area. Enjoy the cool nights during the summer and the possibility of snow in the winter. The area abounds with recreation. Hike to the top of Mt. Lassen, go wine tasting at the nearby wineries, fish at Hat Creek.

THE PERFECT GETAWAY

  • 5 out of 5
First of all, the reservation process was quick and easy, thank you Mary. We had an amazing long weekend in this cabin. We had a semi-family reunion there. It's cozy, clean, peaceful, has plenty of space for socializing, and beds for everyone. One afternoon, we had the ultimate cookout using the stone grill. On our last night, we relaxed around the fire pit and made s'mores. We would highly recommend this cabin for any occasion. Also, Lassen National Park is a short drive away and has many beautiful areas.

This is a place that a family can come and relax, feel at home and be in a beautiful setting. The space is open yet cozy and allows for individuals to have their own space. Most everything we needed was there. Kitchen was great for sitting around the island while to cooks did their thing. There is a mystery about the house, which switches turn on which lights. Mary and Bill were easy to communicate with and when Bill showed up with the linens for the next tenant he was sensitive about not intruding. Not necessary, he could have joined us for coffee. Maybe next time. We’ve already planned for next year.

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE! LOVE TO COME BACK...

  • 5 out of 5
I should say that the house is very beautiful and nicely decorated. It was clean and very well maintained. We rented this house for the weekend to visit the Lassen national park and we were very happy with our stay.
I would definitely recommend this house (and would even come back here myself).

GOOD TIME FOR OUR FAMILIES

  • 5 out of 5
The house was better than I expected from the photos. It was a fun home to stay in. Everything was clean, neat and well-maintained. It was quiet. It worked out well for our two families to meet there over the Thanksgiving weekend and enjoy our time together. ( one family came from OR and the other from So. Cal). We acutally enjoyed that there's no internet connection--less distractions--which we see as a plus.

The only problem we had was that a few necessary items ( t.p, foil, paper towels) didn't seem to be restocked after the previous visitors, so we picked some up at the store in order to make it through our long weekend. Not a big deal at all.

We drove up to Lassen National Park but it was closed due to snow. Explored a local lava tube off Hwy 89, just north of the Hwy 44 junction. Three daughters and I actually drove into Anderson on late afternoon to shop the Outlet stores--a rare treat for us.

We were all pleased with our experience.

CUTE AND CHARMING BUT NOT TOTALLY PRIVATE...

  • 3 out of 5
Our family of four recently stayed at this property with our two dogs. The home was very charming, clean and well equipped with dishes, pots and pans, etc. Note, there is no blender, washer or dryer. While we found the cabin very comfortable inside, what isn’t disclosed is that there is a live in caretaker in the home attached to the log cabin behind you. We could hear him talk on the phone and even sneeze and the two downstairs bedrooms directly face his windows so it just did not feel comfortable to have the windows open, or let the dogs out to run around the property. We often rent VRBOs for their seclusion and to be able to let the kids and dogs out to run free and play and just relax. As cute as this cabin was, we just weren’t able to experience that sense of nature or privacy due to the on site caretaker, barking dogs next door, and general neighborhood noise.

On a side note, be sure to research the lakes in the area before diving in. We went to McCumber Reservoir for a pretty water spot for the dogs and kids but after 10 minutes in the water everyone came out screaming with leeches on their toes and legs. Apparently this is very common - just wasn’t listed in any of our guide books. Also, check the trails you are interested in at Lassen. Most of the popular ones (Bumpass, Peak, etc) are at the south entrance, so travel time was a good 45 minutes each way.

Owner's Response: This cabin is located in the pines with 12 acres directly east of the home. This gives vacationers and their dogs lots of room to explore. The front deck is set up with patio table and chairs for convenient private area to relax, eat or enjoy the fire pit with s'mores. FYI, be advised Shasta county does have leash laws and animals need to be supervised at all times. Past visitors have found the neighborhood quiet and desirable.

We just got back from a wonderful long family
weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. Well
stocked kitchen, plenty of fresh linens, and very
clean cabin. Caretakers were very friendly and
helpful. Our 10 year old grandson enjoyed
exploring the woods near the front porch, as we
adults enjoyed a glass of wine. Built-in gas grill
great for cooking.
The cabin is 10 minutes from Lassen National Park.
This was our first trip, but will not be our last.
Great hiking and scenery.
Thanks so much to Mary for opening her home.
