Our 1900 sq/ft open floor plan home is only minutes away from over 100 world-class golf courses including La Quinta Country Club and PGA West, both courses hosting the annual Humana Challenge. Old Town La Quinta with its numerous shops and restaurants is also just minutes away. Our mild winters make us a popular destination for tens of thousands of 'snowbirds,' who travel here from all over the United States, Canada and many other countries to enjoy championship golf, tennis and polo, swimming, hiking, luxurious spa treatments, fine dining and unique shopping. And with an average rainfall of 3 inches, the Coachella Valley is a 'Fun In The Sun' destination for thousands of people from all over the world.

Our home is GREEN! The property has desert landscaping with water efficient bubblers to conserve water. Inside and outside, we use energy efficient lighting. Our appliances are also energy efficient and our washer and dryer play a big role in conserving energy. The washer uses minimal amounts of water and the gas powered dryer minimizes the electricity used. Our home is equipped with a water softener and we use special, all-natural soaps and detergents throughout the house, from the bathrooms, to the kitchen to the laundry. These concentrated soaps are made to work well with the soft water and minimize the impact to the environment. Our pool is filled with salt water to minimize the amount of chemicals required (better for the environment) and we had an energy efficient pool pump installed to reduce electricity consumption. Even some of the electronics in the house are Energy Star rated.

Gorgeous mountain views surround Casa Calliandra, our home in La Quinta Cove. Located near the top of the 'Cove' and only one block from the hiking trails around the perimeter, Casa Calliandra is the perfect getaway for those who seek the sunshine, peace and tranquility of the southern California desert. The only sounds you will hear during the day are birds chirping and doves cooing. Hummingbirds are quite numerous and are attracted to some of the beautiful flowers in our desert landscaped yard. Relax near our private pool and read a good book or go hiking or biking on the numerous nearby trails. Nights in the desert are magical with a beautiful, clear view of the Milky Way Galaxy unhindered by city lights.

Mark & Judy are both avid golfers and skiers. Originally from Virginia, we currently reside in beautiful British Columbia where we raised our family. We are also able to take advantage of the temperate climate here to pursue our recreational interests. We have four talented adult children, nine beautiful grandchildren and a really cool dog. Mark is an Instructor with the local transit company in Vancouver after a 20+ year career with IBM and Judy works for a local police department.

We fell in love with La Quinta and the 'Cove' the first time we saw it. The gorgeous Santa Rosa Mountains, beautiful Coral Ridge, the close proximity to over 100 golf courses, the easy 2 hour flight from Bellingham, Washington and the warm weather during the winter months all made us realize that La Quinta was a great location to have a second home. It also made it easier for us to choose to purchase a retirement home here and to rent it out as a vacation home for a few years.

Sun, sun and more sun! Golf, golf and more golf! Winters in Vancouver can be wet and dreary and it just made sense for us to have a getaway somewhere where the sun shines almost year round.

great find, great home, great trails, great owners

All was as described. the home is actually even nicer than it appears in the photos. the main living area was spacious and comfortable with great ventilation with doors open and great HVAC with doors closed.
If you are looking for a nice home rented to you by nice people, Mark was great, this is for you. We were in town for the national field hockey festival, which was 5-10 minutes away at Empire Polo. My wife and I were able to run up the street from the house 2 minutes and be on a great trail network into the desert. Great trail runs up a long ridge line to an oasis, along the flats then up the "risky trail"(so labeled on the trail sign) for a great view east over lake Cochelo(sp.?)

Loved the hiking

Beautiful, comfortable and well equipped house made this a lovely stay in the desert.
Enjoyed the close proximity to the "Cove to Lake Trail" which we hiked every morning.
The owners were very helpful and pay attention to the details.
It was also a real treat to have bicycles available, which we used to explore the neighbourhood and quaint town of La Quinta.
One of the best restaurants is just minutes away in the village centre - Stuft Pizza - great Sports bar.

Our friends and family were lucky to be able to enjoy another vacation time at Mark and Judy's lovely home in La Quinta cove. Their well appointed home lends itself very easily to quarantee a wonderful family holiday.
The quiet setting is welcomed in our busy lives. My adult children and family friends all know they will have been able to enjoy all the attractions of the desert community as well as find a relaxing retreat at the house. Looking forward to more times there in future.
