Jean Alan's career in design began 30 years ago as a professional set decorator for motion pictures in Chicago and Los Angeles. In the intense atmosphere of the film industry, Alan's knowledge of periods and styles grew exponentially through the scope and depth of each project. The deadline driven, budget conscious environment further sharpened Alan's creativity, leading her to become an exquisitely resourceful designer, finely attuned to detail. Highlights from her career as a set decorator include The Blues Brothers, About Last Night, Midnight Run and The Untouchables.

There is a public pool only a block away!
I shared these lovely accommodations with two other ladies, the three of us from different parts of the US. The condo/apartment was perfect in location and appointment. Relaxed colors and furnishings, light and airy space, modern, efficient and clean lines. It was perfect spot for our stay for a Chicago weekend retreat. Also - just to mention - Bucktown neighborhood is charming and eclectic. We were amazed how quiet it was and yet so connected to the city.
We needed space for a small business meeting that was comfortable, in a diverse neighborhood, and close to downtown. Bucktown House was all of that and more! It is immaculate and warmly decorated. Our reservation process was handled professionally. I would recommend it to anyone, for any occasion you happen to be in the city. The parking was tight, but that's the price of being in a city neighborhood. Thank you to the staff who made our stay a WONDERFUL experience.
This cozy condo rental is awesome! Our family met here for Thanksgiving 2013, as our son lives in Chicago. We served 16 for dinner in the upstairs 2 bdrm unit!
It's close to the train, a park, great Catholic Churches, and an easy walk around the neighborhoods! We absolutely loved the beds, towels and the CLEAN lovely space! You will love this unit and will want to come back to Chicago!
Once a year, not on a holiday, my husband and I, our children and grandchildren, get together for a 'family weekend'. We try to choose places and activiities that our whole family can enjoy. This year we chose Chicago!
It is difficult to find accommodations that are suitable for the 14 of us. Ten of us stayed at the Bucktown house. It was awesome! The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and clean! The location is ideal for a city dwelling experience and ....when the grandkids needed to run, we were all very thankful for the wonderful park, one block away!
A lovely home away from home!
We rented the entire 2 floors of the Bucktown House for my daughter's wedding weekend as a place my family could spend time together before and after the wedding. The location was perfect with plenty of parking and within walking distance of many restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and bars. The Corner Bar which is within 1 block of the house became a favorite spot to unwind! The house was immaculate with comfy beds. It is set back from the street so it is really quiet at night. It was wonderful to be able to have a kitchen to fix impromptu meals with people coming and going at different times. We'll be back!
We reserved the house for a 3-day reunion weekend with friends; four wacky ladies, a husband and a daughter. We had a fantastic time and the property suited our needs perfectly. The house is only about 0.6 miles from the Western Ave "L" Train Station and it was an easy walk. Flying in we weren't so sure so we took the Orange train to the Loop and got a taxi to the house. By the time we departed on Monday we were comfortable enough with the train routes that we walked to the station and boarded our train to head back to Midway (requires one transfer which is easy). The house was very comfortable and equipped with all the amenities we needed for the weekend. It is in a quiet part of town with easy access to public transportation so it was just perfect. There are two nice parks nearby with easy access for guests with children. We rented the entire house, although it can be rented by floor (there are lockouts at each floor, we just didn't use them). There were plenty of restaurants nearby, but the only one we tried was The Red Door on Damen Street since we were on the go so much. It was very good and we enjoyed a nice meal on the patio. The only issue we had with the house was that the initial access codes we were given were invalid, but I called the owner and she was very responsive and got that issue resolved very quickly. I would absolutely recommend The Bucktown House to anyone who is planning a trip to Chicago. If and when we return we will certainly look into staying there again!
