Wonderful Experience ! We Will Come Back!

This was our first experience with HomeAway and it is so much better than a hotel! This is a charming duplex in a great location! We were in LA for 3 nights over spring break to visit colleges with our 2 teenaged children. The location was perfect for visiting UCLA, USC and LMU and even Chapman in Orange, CA. The street is treelined and the neighborhood is quaint and quiet. There are many wonderful restaurants within a very short walk of the duplex. On arrival, the duplex was very clean and had everything we needed, including a full sized washer and dryer. All the rooms and closets are very spacious. The mattresses are very good quality and comfortable. We all slept better than we do at home! Some reviews I read commented on the small garage. The garage is narrow but keep in mind this building is over 80 years old. We rented a Mercedes C class sedan and had no problem parking or getting out of the car. I would warn that the garage door flips out to open so be sure to leave ample room when first opening the garage door. I expect that both my kids will end up in LA for college so we definitely plan on staying at Duplex on 9th next time we are in town!

Already looking forward to staying again!

This was my first Home Away experience and it exceeded my every expectation!

I stayed at this lovely duplex for a week in late October/early November 2013 with some friends who were visiting me from Scotland. Although I live only 30 miles from Los Angeles, we had decided that it would be nice to stay near the places that they enjoy seeing when they are here. I have to say that it was the best decision ever!

The owners were extremely professional and easy to work with. When we arrived at the duplex, it was clean and inviting, and we felt immediately at home.

The duplex is quite spacious and comfortable. As good as the photos are, they do not do justice to just how truly beautiful the home is.

It was great to start each day with coffee or tea on the small balcony off of the dining room. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful despite being just blocks away from Wilshire Blvd and much that the area has to offer.

The kitchen is well stocked with all the basics and some nice extras. Grocery stores are easily found in the handy binder of information that is provided. There is a Ralphs and a Trader Joe's within walking distance as well as an excellent assortment of restaurants. We enjoyed eating out and also cooking together. The dining room is lovely and made our home cooked meals all the more enjoyable.

The living room is large and comfortable and has plenty of staying in for a while entertainment whether if be watching t.v, reading, or playing games. There is a small desk also if you just have to do desk oriented type things.

Both bedrooms were spacious and like the rest of the duplex, well decorated. The closet space was impressive. The beds were comfortable and I slept well and woke refreshed each morning ready to start a new day.

The bathroom is a good size, something that you rarely see in newer homes, with both a tub and a separate shower. Everything is well maintained and up-to-date while still holding on to a 1930s charm. The tile in the bathroom is particularly pretty. There were plenty of towels and wash clothes for all of us.

As we were staying for a week, we appreciated having a laundry room. The washing machine and dryer both worked perfectly.

I have to admit that it was hard to leave after a week. I would have happily moved right in! I would definitely recommend staying here. The price is reasonable and the over all experience could not have been better! I'm counting the days until my next stay!

This is a beautiful home full of character

It was so nice to open the door to a cosy apartment that was obviously loved by the owners. From the warm rugs and original artwork to the kitchen full of everything you could possibly need and more. The photos on the site while good do not really capture the welcome feeling to this home, such a pleasure to come back to after a long day of sight seeing. Location was great for us with everything easy to get to (by car) and parking not a problem. The only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. I would recommend this apartment to couples or families with children. Hope to come back one day.

The most wonderful holiday in LA

I highly recommend the Duplex on 9th in Los Angeles. We loved the decor and the location was fantastic for everything we wanted to do during the week. This was the first time I've ever used VR for a trip and I have nothing to complain about. All transactions went smoothly and there was always excellent communication between me and the owners of the property. I highly recommend renting a vacation property over a motel stay.
