About Patricia Vaughn
Pat has a very satisfying continuing career in Physical Therapy while Dave is retired from careers teaching industrial automation, flying C-130’s for the Air National Guard and most recently local real estate sales. We met here in Greenville, married and built Moosetracks Family Cottages from a patch of overgrown woods and bogs a half mile beyond the end of a dirt road.
Pat is from the Concord NH area, Dave is from Southern RI and Cera is a special gift from our local Vet. Through our years in the local area, first as visitors, then vacation cottage owners, and now as residents we have learned what vacation cottage guests desire in the Moosehead Lake Region.
Here at Moosetracks we try to do only one thing and do that well: We provide our guests with comfortable, clean, reasonably priced vacation cottages in a serene pond-side setting. Our guests enjoy spacious fully equipped rustically modern cottages surrounded by acres of private woodlands, wildlife habitat and mountain scenery. All this and only a few minutes from Greenville and all the recreational activities the area has to offer.

Why Patricia Vaughn chose Greenville
Pat grew up in a small town in rural New Hampshire, same for Dave, only it was in southern Rhode Island. Small towns are unique in that everyone knows everyone and everyone looks out for everyone else. There was a natural gravitation towards Greenville for that reason. Here we know our neighbors, people wave at each other when passing on the road.
Dave had been looking for the right place to build something special. He would put his small aluminum skiff in the truck and go off to explore. He found Prong Pond and fell in love with it. Pat lived in Beaver Cove and explored Prong Pond by canoe quite often. She thought it would be a great place to have a cabin.
Only later did they meet. Dave had seen a lot of property of the camp/cottage variety here, most of it unsuitable for his needs. His real estate broker had these 40 acres on Prong that would come up for sale soon. After much thought he made his offer and long story short he owned it.
While doing site work he met Pat thru his broker and invited her to see his new digs. You guessed it, she married Prong Pond and Dave came with the deal. The broker was their best man at the wedding. And as they say, the rest is history.
What makes this cabin unique
It was luxury starting with a blank sheet of paper. Here we could raise the bar. We could design cottages to take advantage of the unique setting and terrain. We had 40 acres and a half mile of shoreline to play with.
Started in late winter of 2001 and finished in the fall, our second cabin, Prong Mountain was a copy of our first and was designed to be a vacation rental retreat from the start. We modified a log home plan to give us an open sunny space with a nook and crannies look overhead. Of course a modern vacation cottage had to have central heating, full bath and fully equipped kitchen. Furnishing a “North Woods” cabin required a combination of campy and rustic cedar furniture. There is a collection of hand crafted birdhouses displayed above the kitchen cabinets.
The grounds combine existing native trees with open space and perennial gardens tended to by Pat. A trail winds down thru the woods to a private dock just for this cottage. Across the parking area sits a huge rock left by the last glacier.
The real uniqueness of this property is that over 90% of our ponds shoreline can never be developed thanks to conservation minded land owners. These same landowners allow us to maintain marked trails thru the woods for hiking, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing. Although we are only 6 miles from town the feeling of the pond and woods along with the wildlife makes one think you are much more remote.
