A delightful vacation!
We truly enjoyed our stay on Vieques, and at Casa de Queso! The listing was as advertised - and very clean and maintained well. Owners helpful via email and on the phone up front - good recommendations. The screened porch for the hammock was relaxing - but nobody brought me drinks, like the owner advertised! :-) Both beds very comfortable. The beaches are incredible, and we had a great time relaxing. It is a bit of a hike to the beach, restaurants, and groceries if you don't have a car and don't walk well. It would be too far for young kids to walk. If you rent a jeep, it would be no problem - you need it to explore the island and get to other beaches. We looked at it as a workout! The property manager was very helpful up front, even took us to get groceries. They even had one set of snorkeling gear, which came in handy! Esperanza is on the south side of the island, and T-Mobile didn't work very well. Phone was spotty, texting about half the time, but forget 4G - you came to relax anyway :-). All restaurants were on the main strip by the beach, all pretty laid back. There are a number of companies to help you with seeing the Bio Bay, snorkeling, fishing, renting scooters, etc. Fun Brothers did fail me on a snorkeling outing - argh. House was very basic, very clean, nothing fancy, and we would definitely recommend it to family and friends! Might be a bit much for age 65+ or people with disabilities - steep driveway, and steps into the house. Great for us though! Definitely a second honeymoon :-) , and an awesome break from Rhode Island winter!
