This comfortable, contemporary home is located in one of Sedona's most stunningly beautiful areas. If you're looking for quiet solitude, you'll find it here -- yet all the restaurants and services of Sedona are just a three-mile drive away. A fifteen-minute walk takes you to Oak Creek, and a small hike directly behind the house puts you atop of a 225-foot red rock bluff where you'll capture unbelievable views.
This contemporary home has simple elegance with excellent flow, having been designed in consultation with feng shui master Valmai Howe Elkins. Completed in 2006, it won the 'People's Choice' for best house on the Sedona Art and Architecture Tour that year.
The entire house has great natural light, no matter what time of year you stay. Winter sunlight streams through southern windows, and summer patios are shaded and cool with natural ventilation. This is a green passive solar home built with ultra low voc materials, and also features ample conventional heating/cooling systems.
Downstairs you'll enjoy an open plan living room/dining room with 12-foot high ceilings and comfortable leather sofas. A gorgeous modern kitchen features all stainless steel appliances and stone countertops, as well as a separate wine bar. Throughout this main living area you'll find engineered maple hardwood floors, hand-made wool rugs, Italian leather sofas and HD satellite video. There's also a guest room downstairs with full bath, perfect for the visitor who requires additional privacy.
Upstairs you'll have your pick of two large master suites. Each comes with its own large deck, queen size bed, full bathroom and walk-in closet. The western suite has its own private entrance, small kitchenette, and large Roman style soaking tub. The eastern suite includes a very private outdoor bathtub with full view of the red rock bluff, which is part of the unique property.

Hi, my name is Glendon and I have been a resident of Sedona for 15 years. Having lived in many places in my life, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and internationally, I can truly say that Sedona is a unique and magical place. So when I discovered this amazing property, complete with its own gigantic red rock, I knew this was the place to build my dream house. I currently live next door to the house with my two chocolate labradors, Charlie and Coko. I am an artist specializing in creating high-end functional art and sculptures. I enjoy hiking and running the trails in and around Sedona.
Glendon Good purchased this house in 2006
Sedona is an astonishingly beautiful place to be. Living here is akin to camping in nature where wildlife and nature abound, yet with most of the amenities I enjoy such as good restaurants, supermarkets and coffee houses. Sedona is truly a spectacular place.
This property is located in a special area of Sedona along Red Rock Loop Road. Originally this was one of the first areas to be homesteaded and farmed in the 1800's. Today there is a delightful mix of luxury homes among farms and working ranches. Nearby, the creek rolls through the red rocks providing a rich contrast between the lush green pastures and dramatic red rocks. Excellent hiking trails out the door take you to high ridgetops with views of Cathedral Rock, Thunder Mountain and the vast National forest. Cool off with a dip in the creek and explore its natural beauty.
The Cliff House is a beautiful property inside and out. Perched beneath dramatic red-rocks with a quintessential view of Sedona's backcountry, this was an ideal retreat for our stay in the area. The house was a 15-20 minute drive to the town center (restaurants, grocery stores, etc), but that distance provided quiet and star-filled night skies as a result. Glendon ensured the property was clean and well-maintained for our arrival. Our two-year-old daughter loved his two chocolate Labradors and koi pond! Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Definitely the place to stay in Sedona.
We were 3 couples (55+) from Calif. coming to Sedona for a week of mtn. biking and hiking. Like the 2 previous reviews of The Cliff House, we were in awe of the beauty, spaciousness, amenities, surroundings and comfortableness of this home. Greeted by Coko and Buddy (cutest well behaved brown labs you'll ever meet) Glendon the builder/owner was there to welcome us and show us around. Our stay for 5 days was too short and we believe it was because of this house and the beauty of it all. There was nothing we wanted for and never once ventured out for a meal. The decks with the views were just to spectacular to leave. We even cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner! Glendon was very helpful w/ our questions of trails and local information. We look forward to coming back again soon and would not consider any place else to stay.
Epic, awesome, magical. The Cliff house residence in my opinion is the only place to stay in Sedona. From the location right down to the top quality appliances, this home is beyond belief. The Cliff house made our visit spectacular, transcending our lodging experience from merely a place to lay our heads to the star of the show.
When you make your first turn onto Upper Red Rock Loop Road you know you're in a special place, as you wind down the short drive to the gated Cliff house driveway the scenic vistas reveal themselves like aces in a poker hand. You've won the lottery! If you want to experience an energy vortex in Sedona, one is just moments away. Everything you came to Sedona for is right within your grasp from the Cliff house, sunrise, sunsets, hiking, oak creek, red rocks, energy vortexes, star gazing, the history of the surrounding area. It's all right here. This is a 5 Star Rental! The three bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen are all nicely appointed, there is a nice stereo system that allows you to plug your ipod or watch the large flat screen with surround sound. The living room and dining room are wonderfully lit with natural sunlight between two massive sliding windows that allow you to not only look at the landscape but live "in" the landscape while inside. I found the property so magnificently designed that as the conditions change during the day & night, all the outdoor spaces and four different decks allow you a place to not only stay outside comfortably, but will treat you to some very appealing perspectives. I highly recommend you take advantage of all of them. These are not places built to fill space, but conversely, are specifically designed to help you experience why you came to Sedona.
The interactions with the owner & transaction went very smoothly. After our arrival and initial walk through including meeting Charlie and Coko the two very well behaved chocolate labs, it became "our" house and it felt like it!
As you can tell, we absolutely loved the place and highly recommend it. After driving around for a couple of days "searching for Sedona", we finally found it right next to our flip flops one evening while watching a sunset from the deck & wondering how many we had missed while waiting for a table with a "view". The next morning (after coffee on the deck of course), we proceeded down to Whole Foods and Basha's (the "locals" super markets) stocked up and never left the Red Rock loop area again...
This property is one of a kind. A total labor of love from the builder. Wide open spaces, amazing large windows that frame the gorgeous landscape, spacious/airy bedrooms and bathrooms -- the list goes on and on.
The winning feature I must say is all the outdoor deck space. The top deck is perfect for star watching, maybe with a glass of wine. Since there are very few properties near by, you really feel like you are alone up in the sky checking out the stars. The deck directly outside the living space is perfect for outdoor meals - cook or order in and hang outside, trust me. The intermediate deck (with the bathtub) should not be missed. You can be in the bath while you gaze up at the beautiful red rocks that this home is perched up against. It's just awesome.
Our family, including a teen and a tween, stayed here for a fantastic week in March. The house is bright and spacious. Every room is a great size. The bedrooms are very quiet, ensuring that early risers won't disturb those sleeping late. Everything was ready for our arrival and the owner, Glendon, attended quickly to any minor issues that arose during the week. The location was exactly what we had hoped for: close enough to Sedona to enjoy everything it offers, but far enough away to avoid traffic and noise. The setting of the house is amazing. A deck on the back of the house, under the cliff, is quiet and secluded. It's the perfect place to recharge your batteries or spend an afternoon in quiet contemplation. While the property will appeal to any traveller, its proximity to natural areas -- they're right out the door -- make it an excellent choice for anyone who wants to hike, bird watch or chase butterflies.
We had an outstanding week in Sedona and Glendon's Cliff House made it very special. This is a terrific contemporary property - beautifully designed by Glendon with quite brilliant vistas from all sides of the property. The property is spacious, clean, really well equipped from a living and holiday perspective and has an airy feel with lots of natural light. Some really great hikes around Sedona are easily accessible from this property. We started on hikes early every morning and then really enjoyed the late afternoon and evenings at Cliff House. There are so many decks to choose from on the outside and night sky is quite brilliant with little interference from street light. The garden at the foot of the red cliff is so natural and we just enjoyed all the birds and butterflies around the property. This was a really peaceful vacation in an area of outstanding natural beauty and it is a tribute to Glendon that this property has been developed in complete harmony with the area. A memorable vacation
This contemporary home is located in an exquisite rural setting 3 miles from downtown Sedona. It is a quiet location where the sounds of birds are often the loudest things heard. If you enjoy the outdoors, hiking, bicycling, running and breathing in the natural beauty, then you will likely enjoy this special place.
