A great place to stay while in San Juan.
We were visiting San Juan for a few days in late January. The apartment was perfect for what we were looking for. The rooms and kitchen were well equipped and had everything we needed. We didn't plan on spending much time at home but rather using the apartment as home base for our outings and excursions. For this purpose it was great because we could easily come and go. Having our own parking space was a plus.
Luis and Norma were very helpful prior to and during our stay. Luis responded to my emails quickly every time I had questions and even took the time to send me ideas for restaurants and things to do when I asked some specific questions about beaches and driving on the island. Norma met us at the apartment when we arrived and then led us to the grocery store when she left versus just giving us directions.
There isn't a lot to do in the direct vicinity of the apartment as far as we could tell. We walked around a few blocks in multiple directions one day and there were a few shops and businesses but pretty quiet. We did find the Abracadabra restaurant and cafe just a short walk down a side street. This place is a little gem - quirky, fun, unique food, brunch and good coffee, with live music on most nights.
The beach is about a 10-15 minute from the apartment. I thought it was a little closer but it was a nice easy walk. It is a nice beach and good for walking and swimming. Our kids loved building sand castles and playing in the water.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to be in the center of the action but wants a place with the amenities of home - kitchen, washer and dryer, multiple bedrooms and baths, a nice view, and easy access to major roads and the beach.
Owner's Response: Thanks Brooke!!! You are always welcome in my home!!!
Abracadabra is great, I love it too...there is a bus stop the next street over from Abracadabra that will take you to Old San Juan. On that same street a few blocks down is Libreria, Cafe and Bistro which is really good as well. In front of Libreria, Bar and Bistro there is a development called Ciudadela that have a Restaurant called Yolo and a supermarket is under construction. On De Diego St., about 5 minutes walking distance you will find Mumbai Rest., Gia Pizzeria, Cafe San Pedro and Bistro de Paris.
Wish a beautiful 2014!
