Our air conditioned accommodations are located on a half acre of lush tropical landscaping, a short five minute walk to white, sandy Poipu Beach, here on the sunny south shore of Kauai.
When staying with us you'll enjoy a well equipped kitchen, HDTVs in living rooms and bedrooms, beds with pillow top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens, deep soak and Jacuzzi tubs and walk in showers, granite counters in baths and kitchens plus a gas barbecue and outdoor dining on your private covered lanai.
Our guests tell us they also appreciate our off street parking, high speed wi-fi property wide, the use of a computer and printer 24/7 in our office, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers, plus the use of laundry rooms with detergent and dryer sheets. All are complimentary.
This listing is our Seabreeze Two Bedroom Two Bath and features ocean views and a private hot tub. We also have two additional two bedrooms and other choices, including studios, one, two, three and five bedrooms. All are located together on the same grounds close to the beach.

Hideaway Cove Poipu Beach
Gale owned a glass bottom boat when she first came to Kauai. As the business grew, activity desks were leased to ensure a steady flow of customers for the boat. When Gale had the second happiest day of her business life (she sold the boat), the desks remained and Gale was then in the activity desk business as Kauai Vacation Helpers.
She often jokes that one of the 'worst' parts of her job is having to test out all the activities to make sure they're o.k. for our guests. It also means she is able to share the knowledge of Kauai she's gained over the past twenty years with our guests.
Herb's been in the residential real estate business since he first got his license in Huntington Beach, California. In 1993 Herb was recruited by a friend to work as Director of Marketing for a resort on Kauai, and has been here every since. Since leaving the resort Herb has been actively involved in Hideaway Cove doing marketing, designing websites for Hideaway Cove and Kauai Vacation Helpers, blogging and writing our newsletter 'FYI Kauai'. He also answers the phone, does basic maintenance and tinkers with the landscaping.

We have both travelled extensively and talked about owning vacation rentals that had everything in them that we wished for in the places we've stayed. Most important to us was a very good bed with high quality linens and towels plus quality furnishings. We both enjoy cooking and wanted our kitchens to have granite counters for easy cleaning and ceramic top stoves for the same reason. Jacuzzi or deep soak tubs and walk in showers and granite counters turn what would be ordinary baths into something extraordinary.
When Herb first moved to Kauai he rented what is now our Aloha Two Bedroom, Two Bath and became fast friends with the owners, Dick and Donna Page. And when they decided to sell the building next door, Herb was the first person they asked. Initially the building had long term rental tenants and we converted it into vacation rentals in 1999.
Due to the high cost of electricity, very few of the vacation rentals on Kauai are air conditioned. We decided to add air conditioning to stand out from the crowd. For the same reason, we added an office and large guest laundry room on property, in a space which had originally been planned as a studio accommodation. RIP Outrigger Studio :-)
Having an office allows us to give our guests a very high level of service. We are also very attentive to even the smallest details, personally inspecting our units frequently for cleanliness and wear and tear. We constantly upgrade everything on property including barbecues, furniture, beds (two new king beds added recently) and kitchen appliances and 'tools'. We work very hard to provide a high quality guest experience which we believe is the key to our success and the reason our guests come back year after year.
Tucked away in a residential area just one block from Poipu Beach is Hideaway Cove Villas, our home for seven virtually perfect days and nights on our first visit to Kauai.
We arrived late at night and found our keys waiting for us along with a letter containing all the information we would need for our stay, and in the refrigerator was exactly what I needed most at that moment--a pitcher full of delicious, cold fruit drink.
The next day we went to Koloa just a short drive away and bought groceries for a week. We sampled the local restaurants but also were able to cook our own meals in our villa, which was a big advantage at times after a long day of sightseeing.
The villa was clean, modern, well equipped and tastefully furnished and was in a perfect location for excursions to Lihue for a helicopter tour, Port Allen for a boat tour of the Na Pali Coast or a day at Poipu Beach, voted sixth best of all the beaches in the Hawaiian Islands by the Travel Channel. It was wonderful lying on the beach and watching the humpback whales just a mile or two offshore.
The grounds were well groomed and beautifully landscaped to showcase Poipu's tropical location. The staff were all great. Diane in the office helped us reserve our villa and was exceptionally helpful making dinner reservations and other arrangements for us during our stay.
Herb Lee, the owner, helped us in ways that no major resort owner would have considered and we're grateful for his advice as well. There's no question in our minds that we'll return to Kauai for another visit, it's just a matter of deciding when's the best time to go, and when we do we wouldn't consider staying anywhere but Hideaway Cove.
Our first visit was our honeymoon but any return trip to Kauai will be special to us because of Herb and Gale and all the others who made the critical difference for us.
Poipu Beach is a resort area with shopping, grocery stores and ten restaurants located within a mile of the property. The beach has twice been named the number one beach in the United States and is the only beach on the south shore of Kauai that is life guarded. This is also a great spot to take surfing and stand up paddle boarding lessons (SUP). You can picnic, swim, snorkel and sunbathe at the beach. We provide beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler for you to fully enjoy the beach.
The adjacent Poipu Beach Park offers covered picnic pavilions, barbecues, a play ground for children, beach showers, public bathrooms and lots of open grassy areas to sunbathe or picnic.
Brenneckes Beach is next to Poipu Beach and is widely considered the best boogie boarding beach on Kauai. We also rent boogie boards and snorkel gear and can have them waiting on your lanai when you arrive.
Other Activities: Helicopter adventures, ATVs, bicycle downhill, luaus, Napali sunset dinner cruises, snorkeling trips by boat and from shore, scuba diving from shore and by boat, snuba, rubber raft adventures into ocean caves, ocean kayaking, river kayaking, zip-lining, hiking, golfing, deep sea fishing, rainbow trout fishing, movie tours in an air conditioned bus to the sites of well known movies and guided tours of the island.
Golf: Poipu Bay Resort, former home of the PGA Grand Slam, is less than a 10 minute drive from the property. This is the golf course for the adjacent Grand Hyatt Resort. The course is beautifully designed with many of the holes on the ocean in Poipu. The clubhouse, which is located on the lake at the 18th hole, is a great place for lunch. At dinnertime the restaurant transforms itself into Yum Sa, a terrific Asian themed restaurant run by the Grand Hyatt. Kiahuna, Pua Kea, Waimea and the well known Prince Course in Princeville are not far away. Our concierge desk is happy to book tee times for you.
