House: The appeal of this property lies in its versatility. It is traditional, yet contemporary with open spaces and cathedral ceilings, french doors and high windows for light. There are decks and a jacuzzi bath tub, and sauna but the house still retains its classic feel of a Vermont Cape with wide pine floors, a lovely fireplace, classic lines and its simple but elegant decor. It is small, but roomy and can accomodate one family but is also an economical option for two. It is relatively new and built with comfort and efficiency in mind but does not feel inauthentic. We have wide open fields and woods to walk in, and the house is privately located, but is right off the town road for easy access.
For the Active Types: Depending upon the season you can have your pick of activities. In summer, there is hiking, biking, bird watching swimming, kayaking and canoeing, fishing, horse back riding, and even tubing down the river. In winter, downhill skiing is either five minutes to an hour away depending upon your choice of a small or big slope. There is an indoor skating rink, and groomed cross country and snow shoes trails ten minutes away. In Woodstock and Quechee you can also find work out clubs, tennis and raquet ball, and challenging golf courses. South Woodstock is home of the Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA) featuring horse events and trials. Here, one can even find nostalgic rides on horse drawn sleighs in the winter.
For the More Leisurely Minded: Woodstock is well known for its fine dining, antique shops and art galleries. Watch a movie in the Historical movie theatre or simply stroll around town and take in the beautiful New England homes. In Quechee or Bridgewater you can eat and shop, but you can also observe nationally known glass blowers, potters and woodworkers at their trade. For the artist or writer seeking inspiration, come sit on our decks or in front of the fire and find the peace and quiet you need to create.
