Fresh organic fruits of many varieties are available at the local farmers market: apple bananas (a must); pineapples (golden sweet); mangoes (many kinds); papaya (also trees on property); mangostine (tropical delicacy); rambutan (another delicacy); lychee (another must-unbelievably delicious);bread fruit; star fruit; and strawberry guava plus many more.
Famous Tunnels Beach (some of the best surfing in the world) is about 3 minutes by car or a short walk to the left of the home. Ke'e State Beach is our favorite and is like a large 200-400 yard long calm bathtub protected by a long reef. Many tropical fish, turtles, etc can be easily seen in 4 to 8 feet of water. On the left side of the beach is a local school of yellow tang fish numbering up to 200 plus. Ke'e beach is great for children and is about 10 minutes north at the beginning of the hike to Kalalau Trail.
Hanalei Beach and the town of Hanalei is about 8 minutes south and Princeville is another couple of miles south of Hanalei. It is a great location where tropical breezes blow away mosquitos that may be found further inland.
It is one of the last places on earth that is slow and peaceful where nature inspires all.
QUIET, PEACEFUL, BEACHFRONT, OLD HAWAIIAN LOCATION NEAR TOP 3 SAND BEACHES ON N. SHORE- TUNNELS, HANALEI AND KE'E BEACH; OCEAN AND BALI HAI MOUNTAIN VIEWS; 8 MINUTES TO FAMOUS NAPALI HIKING MOUNTAIN TRAIL. LOCATION IS IDEAL AND IS BETWEEN THE TOP 3 BEACHES ON KAUAI.
It is quiet, peaceful, serene, rural, tropical with ocean and mountain views. Rainbows and waterfalls are visible. Pool; bathtub with bubbler upstairs; are major benefits being privately fenced. The Balinese design is spectacular throughout. The beach in front of the Hale is very private with great shelling and some of the best swimming/snorkeling on the island. The locals like to fish for Ulua here and other types of delicious fish. The serenity and peacefulness is unique to this magical spot in paradise. You will experience this when you stay here. The Hale location was selected by an old Hawaiian family who picked this spot as their own family dream vacation home site which was only one of many hundreds of acres that they owned.
We really liked Hale Ono because of the location with beachfront access to good snorkeling and swimming at Baby's beach. Tunnels beach was about 2 minutes and was our second favorite with Ke'e beach a close second because of the bath tub feeling caused by the surrounding protective reef.
The home had fresh linens, well appointed kitchen, cool breezes off the ocean, refreshing pool, and plenty of toys- boogie boards, beach towels, Tommy Bahama beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. We received a lot of helpful information from the manager in terms of great restaurants, stores, adventure spots, beaches, etc. We bargequed and cooked a lot at the home which was more private and economical for us even though we went to the Mediterreanean Seafood Restaurant Luau on tuesday night just next door at the Hanalei Colony Resort. www.hcr.com We want to stay longer on our next trip to Hale Ono. Mahalo and Thank you.
Hale Ono is located in a quiet and beautiful part of the island, close to Na Pali coast, Kalalau trial, Tunnels and Ke`e beach. It is very private and safe. The nature is exquisite. We enjoyed living in the house and had no problems with any utilities, rodents or insects. It`s very clean and well maintained. I also enjoyed the proximity of the Hanalei Colony Resort. It has a nice coffee shop and a Mediterranean restaurant. The beach was almost in the backyard. We loved bringing our beach chairs and watching the waves in the lazy afternoons.
Hi, My lady and I stay there during the month of January 2015. It totally worked for what we needed. It was a safe place back in the jungles Ha'ena about 15 minutes from Hanalei down a beautiful road. The stars are really cool during the night with not to many people around. We went to sleep early and didn't party much as we were there for nature and surfing. Michael was awesome home owner and was super helpful recommending places. Its near tunnels and Kee beach which is a short drive away. These beaches are more remote and beautiful with not to many people. The waves on the north shore are no joke. Make sure you get burger meat from the gas in Princeville, California poke from Princeville Foodland and fillets from Costco. We cooked on the grill every night to save money and its was better than any restaurant. The beach out back is good for long walks and nobody is ever on it. Heaps of little crabs provide great entertainment as they place cat and mouse from the water. This place is really special. Peace and Love!
We are thoroughly enjoying the N. Shore of Kauai near Tunnels beach at Hale Ono. We have had certain requests that were complied with in short order and appreciate that since we realize we are in a far away area on an island in the Pacific. The weather has been about 80 degrees with ocean water at 75 degrees. That is what we have been waiting for.
The home is well equipped with Island quilts and fresh sheets/comfortable beds/ cooking utensils, etc. We have been enjoying the privacy of the home in the pool area where we like to dip in the dipping pool. The washer/dryer are better than the ones I have at home which helps a lot. It is comfortable with all of the different items we need.
We enjoy the boogie boards and appreciate the beach towels, beach chairs, etc.
We have been going out to dinner a lot at Barracudas, Hanalei Fish, Mediterreanan Gormet, and the fabulous seafood brunch at the St. Regis Hotel on Sundays. It is pricey but worth every penny.
We also took many pictures of the tropical flowers here in the garden. There is a cute Hawaiian bird that flys next to us that is black, with a golden chest. He will stay with us for 10 minutes or more in the morning and about 4:30 in the afternoon. He has such a melodious voice.
The beach in front of the home is a bit rough now in the middle of the winter but we still dip in. We really enjoy going to Annini and Ke'e beaches for snorkeling and swimming since they have flat water and are reef protected for the most part.
BBQ time has been special where we enjoy our favorite drinks and look at the sun reflecting off the waves.
The location was very conveniently located near all of the top beaches on the N. Shore which is our favorite place to vacation. All of the amenities were very satisfactory. We are picky about where we stay and this home has everything we needed and was clean and had beautiful custom Balinese-Thai carvings which created a tropical environment.
We liked that privacy and stars at night viewed from the beach in front of the home. The private, fenced in, pool was refreshing after a day at the beach.
We also liked the hot/cold outdoor shower which we used everyday upon returning from our adventures.
The luau next door at the Mediterreanan Gorment restaurant on Tuesday nights is not to be missed. The dancers and fire eaters were very talented.
The respresentatives were very informative and gave us a lot of information about activities and fun things to experience and do. We read most of the reviews and made our decision after talking with the manager. The home is equipped with new washer/dryer and other items of quality. It is clean and well organized.
We are looking forward to a return trip the same time next year to the N. Shore and will probably stay at Hale Ono again.
We have visited Hale Ono a number of times over the past 7 years and this has been another peaceful time with my family and the owner who spends a lot of time here. I come over from time to time to work on Hale Ono to paint and do anything that maintains the quality of the home. A new pool motor was installed and it is in good condition. We pressure washed the home, decks, etc. and stained the pool deck, painted the house, fixed the doors, and updated the pool equipment and it is running well. It looks great. The kids that were here last week were in and out of the pool every day after being at Ke'e beach (best snorkeling).
We love to BBQ and sit on the beach in front of Hale Ono just to look out to the Saint Regis Hotel across Hanalei Bay. The ocean and Bali Hai Mountain views are stunning.
It is like working on a boat with all of the teak and epay wood. It is is sure worth it because of it is beautiful and rich looking. I particularly admire tropical woods and carvings that are throughout the home. When we leave the North Shore we miss all of the beaches that are so close to the home. It really makes it convenient to swim and snorkel at these spots because of the proximity.
This is one of our favorite vacation places to visit and we choose to come here over and over even though we have been to many other wonderful places in the world.
I have to say that the house really was not represented properly. We were quite disappointed with the home overall. Which is quite unfortunate. The "cool pool" was filthy. The cool tub with jets....didn't matter they didn't work and it was filthy! The beach un swimmable. The pillows and bedding stinky. We were asked to do our laundry in the agreement, and needed to use the dryer constantly to try to keep dry and warm. I love Hawaii and the Humidity, but the bed we slept on was under a window with no way to keep the rain out, so we were soaked while we slept. Our rental agreement stated to do your bedding laundry and towels...well, we started to do it as we were going so we didn't have so much at the end and the washer flooded the house. When I called maintenance he yelled at me and asked my why I was using the washer. There were no signs saying it was out of order, and I really do not like being yelled at! Strangers would come into the yard and climb the trees to pick coconuts. The Tiki Hut is a joke! There were other small things that are to be expected, but never have I really truly felt like I had been totally misled before. Needless to say, I was not overjoyed with my choice in rental.
Kite Surfing hot spots; Kala Lau Trail-Napali (world famous hiking; pearl shopping hot spot; Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, Ono, Marlin fishing. The new Zip Line through the jungle is a big hit with the vacationers. There is also a new miniature golf course/ event center that is opening near Princeville. A Whale watching dinner/cocktail cruise is a fun outing for the entire family.
