About The Owner

I am a real estate investment advisor living in southern california. This Penthouse is my second home.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2006

Why The Owner chose Palermo Soho

Valentino's is my second home. I love Latin American People and culture. I also love the excitement of big city life, so Buenos Aires combined these two passions for me.

What makes this condo unique

Its all about the location in Palermo Soho. This is my favorite part of Buenos Aires and Valentino's is in the heart of it. There are lots of great areas of BA, however it is easy to just stay in Palermo Soho. I also love the Sycamore tree-lined street of Thames and it's proximity to the subway.

Amazing Location!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the apartment for approximately two weeks over New Year's Eve and absolutely loved it! The location is incredible, we were within walking distance to awesome restaurants and boutiques. I'd like to make special plug for our friend Alejandro at Malambo, the wine shop down the street. Also, don't miss the coffee at Lattente across the street.

The place was perfect for our stay. The place needs a few upgrades, but we really enjoyed our time there; so much so that we even inquired about purchasing property in the neighborhood!

Owner's Response: I inquired as to what was meant by a "few upgrades" and I was told two things. First, damage to a bathroom counter which has now been repaired. Second, water stains on the wood flooring from rain coming in from sliding glass doors. Yes, the floor has small areas of flooring stains, yet it is covered with nice throw rugs and just in the corner of the room. It's so minor and difficult to repair, that I have choose to let it remain for years now. Thom

Spacious and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I (age 55) stayed in Thom's condo for a month and were very comfortable.

First of all, Thom is extremely responsive and professional. His is my fifth rental from VRBO and he is the most responsive owner I have dealt with (and I have had no bad experiences). His property manager, Guille, is a delight. She is very helpful and generous with her time. I especially appreciated that she exchanged our US dollars to Argentine currency (at the favourable blue market rate). This saved us having to go downtown to use the "cambio" money changers. Guille also arranged for Aldo to pick us up at the airport and to return us at the end of our stay. He was reliable, safe and courteous.

The condo itself is in a great location. I had been considering renting in Recoletta, but Palermo Soho has far more character. Yes, it is grittier with lots of graffiti, but so much more interesting and with great restaurants. I might add that we never once felt at all unsafe and we walked and took the subway everywhere (except a cab to Bocca). I think the greatest danger is the sidewalks in the neighbourhood, many of which are in poor condition.

The condo itself is very spacious and comfortable. I'm currently writing this from another VRBO rental in Santiago, Chile. Although it is newer and more modern, I am missing the space of our Buenos Aires rental! Especially the patio!

I give this condo four stars instead of five only because some of the furnishings and utensils are becoming a bit "tired." However, I suggested improvements to Thom and he said he would address them--and I believe he will.

Would I return here or recommend this condo to friends? Yes!

Second Year in a Row

  • 5 of 5

We just finished our second month-long trip to Buenos Aires in the last two years. We stayed in this great place last year and could not think of any reason to go anywhere else this year. The apartment is accurately displayed and described in the listing. You get the top floor of the building all to yourselves. The terrace/veranda is an amazingly peaceful spot. It’s high enough (the eighth floor) so much of the noise disappears. It is a great place to split a bottle of Malbec before heading out into night. Palermo Soho has many great well-known restaurants within walking distance (Don Julio and La Cabrera, to name just two) but other lesser known gems.

Located on Thames, it’s near Plazas Serrano, Armenia and Italia. BsAs cabs are readily available and quite inexpensive. The whole city is yours for a US$15 cab ride (at most) or for the adventuresome, hop a bus.

The apartment is well-appointed and very comfortable. No feeling of claustrophobia as the rooms are quite spacious. The pictures do not do the apartment justice, especially the terrace.

We did some two- and three-day side trips and when we got back we felt like it was home.

Finally, Thom, the owner, and Guille, the manager are just great. Guille, Elaine is still talking about the private Tango lesson.

Perfect Penthouse !!!

  • 5 of 5

We rent Thom penthouse at 30/10 until 08/11 and it was a magnificent stay. The apartment is very large, clean and sunny, tastefully decorated and with all the utensils you need in everyday life. The location is the best of Buenos Aires in Palermo Soho, a beautiful, sophisticated and entertaining neighborhood. Whenever we travel to Buenos Aires, and surely this was one of the best apartment we stayed. Thank Thom and Guille !!

Wonderful Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came to Buenos Aires for his business conference. We chose Palermo and this apartment because of its proximity to the conference center. My husband enjoyed being able to walk there in about 20 minutes, everyday. The owner and property manager were very resposive via email before our departure from the U.S. They arranged a driver to meet us at the airport and bring us to the apartment. We were warmly greeted upon arrival by the property manager. She spent a great deal of time answering all of our questions, giving us a way to contact her anytime, and orienting us to the neigborhood amenities (restaurants, shopping, grocery store,etc.). We appreciated the privacy of being the only apartment as you exit the elevator. We enjoyed the "wall of windows" in the living room and bedroom. These provided great breezes, views and light while still being private, as the apartment is on the top floor. We were also appreciative of the laptop computer with instant internet access, the big television, well equipped kitchen, great shower and bathtub, comfortable bed, and even the little hummingbird that visited the orange flowers on the balcony several times a day! We enjoyed walking to various restaurants in Palermo, sampling the empanadas. I felt very safe walking about on my own, while my husband attended meetings. I enjoyed shopping in the Leather District for great bargains, and even walking to a couple of Zumba classes. Inspite of our extremely limited Spanish, we have found everyone warm, friendly, and helpful. The property owner and property manager have gone out of their way to make our stay in Buenos Aires even better than we imagined. If we have the opportunity to return to Buenos Aires, we would not hesitate to stay here again. We wholeheartedly recommend this apartment!

Wonderful Place to Stay in BA

  • 5 of 5

My wife , who is Argentine and I stayed at Thom's place for more than a week and just loved the apartment. The light, amenities, cleanliness and space were ideal for us. We were able to have friends, family and guests over to the apartment and entertain as well. The neighborhood is perfect! There are lots of places to walk, the squares are nearby and even for Argentina - there were plenty of great restaurants with walking distance. This is one town you never have to look too hard for a great local restaurant…but, Pallermo Soho…is unique! Within a few blocks of the apartment are great places to enjoy adventures in culinary exploration! We would definitely come back! The services of Guille were always available but not needed as you can be totally self sufficient.
