About this property

Bastide closed to village, wonderful view on the Grand Lubéron

The 4 star Villa (Meublé de tourisme 2019) has been refurbished in recent years. A geothermic heating provides warm water. The house is located in an area of 12.000 sqm and is standing alone. The swimming-pool (4,5x13m) is constantly purified. The plateau is offering a privacy and a splendid view at the same time. Because of its slopes the area is ideal for children and adolescents, less for babies and very small children. Pets are not allowed. In 2016 the house was extended by an annex building, offering two more bedrooms including bathroom and wc. The house can be rented w/o annex at basic rates (occupation with max. 4 adults or 2 adults and up to 3 children), i.e. 2 bedrooms in total incl mezzanine w/o access to the annex - additional bedrooms in the annex building can be rented. Sublime St Martin
The photographs do not do this property justice. The view from the dining room down across the terraces to the pool is sublime. The covered terrace and balcony give the feeling of being in a tree house with the oaks rising up all around you and framing views across the Luberon without interruption or any other properties in site. The simple garden is again exquisitely designed and subtly planted with native flora and snaking paths down onto a second terrace and boules ground before leading down onto the pool area. Access is an adventure for the quickest route to the pool but winding paths lead down in a sweep with less dramatic level changes! The Pool is a beautiful design and beautifully kept and a whole other hidden world. Bedrooms simple, showers hot and powerful. Kitchen clean and well kitted out. Architecturally brilliant. Could not fault the house, location, setting, design and layout in any way. Age range from 9-17 for the kids and everyone found a corner to be. St Martin is off the beaten trail and all the better for it -great shop and cafe -with a variety of different events across the week ranging from live music to a pop up restaurant. For those wanting the perfect escape away from the crowds but a few minutes drive from the honey pots could not recommend this property more, by far the most magical view in a valley of stunning contenders. Ella very helpful too. Thankyou Thomas and family for letting us share your paradise for a far too short week. Argus

Lovely house and brilliant setting. The house was very clean and well equipped but oven gloves would be nice. Christel was very helpful when a problem with the burglar alarm arose. My only suggestion would be that guests should be told that the whole of the house is not available. We had booked this house as it had 3 bedrooms and we have 2 teenagers. However on arrival there was only 2 bedrooms (one with a loft) available and the rest of the house was locked. It meant that our kids had to share a bedroom which by the end of the holiday became strained. Having paid for the whole house I would have expected to be able to use it. We had went for a more expensive house to get the extra bedroom, so it was a bit annoying not to have it. You may want to check with the owners how many bedrooms are available before booking. We are a family of five who live in Hamburg.

Why they chose this property

After spending 4 years in France between 2006 and 2010 (Versailles/Paris), and spending many years on vacation in Luberon, this property was the perfect choice for us as it offers both privacy as well as proximity to the town. Luberon is the most beautiful region of France, both in terms of climate and culture. Saint-Martin-de-Castillon is situated on the Grand Luberon and offers native Provençal charm. Nearby, you can visit picturesque towns and dine in excellent restaurants.

What makes this property unique

The property offers both peace and quiet, on the one hand, and on the other, is within walking distance of the town, which is visible from the property. This is an undeniable advantage if you don't want to spend time driving around to get a baguette.
