Seaside Honeymoon Perfection
I'm writing this review from the back deck of the cottage on our last night, and we have amassed a list of things we will surely miss that we feel we should share with hopeful future visitors.
First and foremost, the view. This is one listing where the pictures really don't do it justice. Some of our favorite memories from our week in Ocho Rios have been simply sitting with the sea - through sunshine and rain, it was just never anything but amazing.
Second, the entry point to get into the sea, which is just a short walk down the steps on the property. Snorkeling within a few hundred yards of where we rested our heads was truly a dream come true, and when the water was calm, it was like a personal pool that stretched for as far as our eyes could see.
Third, we will miss Kayak, the watch-cat of the cottage. If you read other reviews you'll know we were not special to her, but rather, she shares her love equally across all those visitors who will let her in their laps (or beds)! She was our constant companion and her company made our stay so special.
Fourth, we will miss falling asleep and waking up in the open-air upstairs bedroom. The mornings at the cottage are especially resplendent, with cool breeze and just the right amount of light coming in. Our honeymoon was a slow and relaxing ascent back to our centered-selves after a year of wedding and life craziness; this cottage was our shangri la.
As far as the nuts and bolts, the other reviews and the information you see on this listing are 100% real - the cottage was exactly as described, and the owners are as wonderful as they seem when you're emailing with them to setup your trip.
If you're looking for relaxation, beauty in nature, and a true home-away-from-home, this is your place.
While you're here, we highly recommend you visit Harmony Hall, a charmingly wonderful Jamaican art museum, owned by the Peter and Annabella. The shopping there is great, and you can't go wrong with a lunch at Toscanini either. Mahoe Falls/Coyaba River Gardens was also a serious highlight for us - we ended up there on a non-cruise ship day and we had the place entirely to ourselves!
Whatever you do, you can't go wrong staying here to do it - yeh mon!
