The house is converted from an old Portuguese farmhouse (Old House) with an attached newly built 1-storey house (New House). The complete building has been renovated and refurbished in 2012, retaining traditional portuguese features.

The Old House has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, big living room and kitchen, sleeps 2 (4).

The New House has 2 bedrooms ensuite bathrooms, big living room and kitchen sleeps 4 (6).

The ‘Old House’ is east facing. Sitting on the patio there are stunning views into a steep ravine made by a stream that crosses the property and over surrounding old terraces and woods. The patio is bordered by fruit-trees and mediterranean plants. The large comfortable open plan living room of the ‘Old House’is furnished with a sleeping sofa and 1 armchair, dining table, a wood burning stove, TV + DVD player, radio/CD player with MP3 connection. The kitchen area is fully fitted with oven, electric hob, fridge freezer, coffee maker, kettle and microwave. The ‘Old House’ has 1 bedroom with 1 double bed and one fully tiled bathroom with bath tube and WC. Driveway, parking and parts of the patio are shared between the two holiday units.

Ein traumhaftes kleines Häuschen in abenteuerlicher Umgebung, wilde Natur, viel Ruhe und Möglichkeit zum Entspannen, ein fantastischer Blick auf Portimao und die Küste (besonders Nachts). Our house 'Casa Horta Velha' is situated in the 'Serra de Monchique', close to the 'Foia' the highest point in the Algave with spectacular views overlooking Southwest Portugal.

The house is set in a quiet secluded location on a terraced hillside with magnificant views over wooded foothills to the southcoast. The property is rich in bird-life and other local wildlife.

It is10 min drive to the small pittoresque town Monchique with supermarket, shops, restaurants and all amenities as well 10 min to the famous Spa at 'Caldas de Monchique'. Good local restaurants are just a few minutes drive away.

35 mins easy driving to the South Coast with splendid beaches, all tourist attractions and golf courses, as well 35 mins to the West Coast with its spectacular wild coastline and beaches.

Casa Horta Velha is a great place for a peaceful, relaxing get-away holiday and a perfect base to explore the scenery and nature of South Portugal.
