Las Tinajas Rural House has its origin in the restoration of an ancient bakery situated in the centre of the town called Obejo, keeping up all its rustic charm but with the most modern comforts such as central heating in every room, some friendly and complete furniture, and warm home linen in the rooms and bathrooms. It is composed of three floors: there is a chamber, with its roof made of soffit and wood boards, where the grains and some agricultural and livestock equipment, as that was the inhabitants´ activity, were stored. The hills and the sierra can be contemplated from two spacious terraces.
On the ground floor, there is a spacious room with old arches made of stone and brick where a lounge-dining room is separated by them. It connects with a rustic warehouse, which is also made of stone and preserved in the same way as before and it still has the old large earthen jars to store some oil; with the ancient room where the well of the house is; with another big room full of large windows that is suitable for social gatherings and rest; with the kitchen and with a typical and sunny courtyard. A snug lounge, ideal for social gatherings, was the ancient bakery that was into the house and from where the old firewood oven, where the bread in a craft way was made, has been kept.
Obejo town is set in the heart of Sierra Morena, 47 kilometres away from Cordova. The town is settled on an extended hillock surrounded by lovely landscapes. Its history goes back to the caliph age according to some remains of a tower of the castle and a wall. Its steep and picturesque narrow streets with numerous corners full of beautiful and typical architecture are exceptional.
