At a very close walking distance to everywhere in the centre of Rome!...Monuments, Ruins, Shopping, Bars, Restaurants and night life!

Most Romans gather on weekends in the pizzerias and stroll with a gelato through the cobblestone streets or along the river for a hand grated granita

About Trastevere:: Trastevere is a very romantic area right in the centre of Rome, 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from all the major turistic attractions.

Long known by Romans for its restaurants and bars, Trastevere is a pleasant area to stroll in Rome, particularly peaceful in the morning and lively in the evening as dozens of trattorias set tables out along the cobblestoned streets.

The immediate area has some of the best Trastevere restaurants and trattorias as well as one of Rome's most famous bakeries all within a few blocks.

A small grocery store is right across the road, a friendly neighborhood bar/cafe is downstairs, so you have everything you could possibly need within the neighborhood

The neighborhood of Trastevere is known for its lively nature, and the array of people it attracts, it's a favorite of foreigners due to its authenticity and the two international universities in the area.

Trastevere is also the location for a weekend pizza for most Romans who gather on the weekends in the pizzerias and stroll with a gelato through the cobblestone streets or along the river for a hand grated granita.

Trastevere is east of the historical center on the other side of the River Tiber. It’s one of Rome’s oldest neighbourhoods and certainly one of the most characteristic. Here you’ll find many restaurants and bars located on the cobbled-stone narrow streets of Trastevere. Once home to the Syrian community and then to the Jewish community, Trastevere has slowly and steadily grown into the second biggest Rione (neighbourhood) in Rome.

Rich families such as the Farnese settled in amongst populace bringing wealth and giving the area a certain status that had been coveted throughout history. At the heart of Trastevere is Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere which is one of the most beautiful piazza’s in Rome.

Visit the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and admire the faded palazzi while you relax in one of the bars lining the square. Trastevere is also only 5 to 10 minutes walk to all the famous Piazzas and monuments.

There are a couple of nice restaurants just downstairs the apartment. One is right by the building (on the right as you exit) is called 'le mani in pasta'. Another one is is called 'Da Enzo' (family cousine) and is in via dei vascellari (first left leaving the building). There are a lot of good pizzerias too. As you get in Viale Trastevere from via dei genovesi, go left for 50 meters (it doesn't look nice but it's a very good pizza). But any other pizzeria in the area is good too.

If you go to Trastevere near Piazza Trilussa and Vicolo del cinque there is a lot of bars action. The best bar action although is in the evening in Campo de Fiori, which is just 10 minutes away from the apartment.

Why Owner/property Manager chose Trastevere area

The apartment is very cosy and romantic. The wood ceilings also add a lot of charm. It's in a small bulding where it was easy to get to know all of the other tenants. The area is very safe and it's in the quiter side of Trastevere.

Very nice apartment. Well, equiped, quiet, wonderful area and very convenient to all sites in rest of Rome. Supermarket nearby for good food. We stayed for a week in January and apartment was warm and confortable. Even decorated with modern, original artworks. We can't wait to return!!!

Charming Apartment in Charming Area with some issues

4 out of 5
Review Submitted: 03 May 2013 Date of Stay: April 2013
We just stayed here in late April for 6 nights. The pictures are accurate and the apartment is light and charming. There is much to like about this apartment: location is great, light, nice linens and towels, washer, kitchen.

The main negative issue is the noise which is mentioned. The windows do not block much of the noise and on this "quiet side" of Trestavere, I would say this might be the loudest corner. People congregate in the street right around the corner, and we could hear them until 2am. Luckily we brought a white noise machine so we could help drown a lot of it out. Another noise issue is that there is a small barking dog in the apartment building across the street. The dog barks a lot at noise in the street, the owners don't seem to care. This really only bothered us when we tried to nap late in the afternoon.

We also had a difficult check in process. Luca's contact did not show up to let us in....he said to push the button but there is no button, the system is broken. :( Eventually we got in but she was not there and not answering her phone. We sat in the hallway for 30 minutes and eventually I found another property agent in the building who had the Lucas's number so she called him. He told her the contact would be there in 5 min, but she showed up about 20 min later. So we sat in the hallway for almost an hour at almost 7pm. My husband wanted to leave....be sure to get Luca's phone number as well as the local contact.

Also the TV did not work. The contact told us this but that the owner would come the next day to replace the remote - that didn't happen. We don't watch much TV but we are from Boston and wanted to watch the news to see what is happening with the marathon bombings. Not a huge issue, we used our tablet instead.

In general a nice place, but it did not go as smoothly as we would have liked. I think this is the price you pay for renting an apartment in this area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. My apologies for Rosie's delay! She is usually on time, but that day had a delay with a previous booking and unfortunately it reflected on you. Sorry also for the broken door system of the building: that didn't help the situation (it has been replaced now!). The TV was fine (but you didn't know..). The scart plug of the satellite receiver was not properly inserted. Rosie told me you didn't care about the TV so I didn't want to disturb you by coming just to check that!. I wish you emailed me while you were in the apartment and I would have fixed it right away. Sorry for the misunderstanding! The area can be a bit noisy, especially on week ends...(people chatting, scooters going by etc..) but that's everywhere in the center of Rome!..

All the best, Luca

A little piece of heaven

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 03 December 2012 Date of Stay: November 2012
My husband and I stayed in this Trastavere charmer with our two-year-old daughter for two weeks. It was, without a doubt, two of the best weeks of our lives. The neighborhood is perfect! It's centrally located--walking distance to almost every major attraction but still manages to be quaint and quiet (considering it's in the heart of Rome). There are considerably less tourists in Trastavere and therefore less crime (definitely no need to worry about skeevy pick-pockets in this neighborhood!).
The apartment itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We cooked every day while we were there (how can you not with Campo just a ten minutes walk away?) and a bakery around the corner where many of the local restaurants buy their bread. The kitchen was well stocked, had basics like olive oil and spices, the linens were soft, the washer makes it much easier because you can pack lighter. The shower is tiny but has good water pressure and gets very hot. The television had a ton of channels but very few English channels (which ended up being a bonus anyway...why go to Rome just to watch television?). The windows were great, we loved opening them up to hear the commotion below. The shutters close, making the apartment very dark if you need to sleep off a day's jetlag. Luca was great: a charming man who is quick to answer any questions that may arise. We used the car service that Luca set up, getting two different drivers who were both very friendly men. The coffee shop on the bottom floor is great, as is the one just past it (Noname cafe). The deli across the street will meet any basic needs you may have and their chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies are divine. My husband joked that the cashier (who I believe was the owner) was the Italian Archie Bunker but even he ended up hugging us and wishing us safe travels by the end of our stay. I would HIGHLY recommend this apartment, or even the beautiful loft above it (which Luca also manages)... could not imagine anyone being dissatisfied with the lovely space, full of beautiful original works of art, comfortable furniture and all-around good vibes. We adored this apartment and are already planning our return trip. I will never forget waking to the sound of church bells and the smell of freshly baked bread...

Nice Apartment in the Trastevere Area

4 out of 5
Review Submitted: 06 November 2012 Date of Stay: October 2012
We are a family of 3 travelling with a 5 month old and had the fortune of staying in this apartment for 6 nights. Luca was excellent to deal with and was very prompt in his communication. We had asked if a plastic tub was available to bath our son and he said no problem. We didn’t realize that he actually had to go out and buy one for us. We were touched by his gesture to ensure his guests had everything they needed for their stay. Many thanks Luca! The pictures of the apartment are accurate and the apartment is well situated on a quiet street. The apartment provides clean basic accommodations that our family found comfortable. We found the Trastevere area a perfect place to stay and explore Rome from. There are many restaurants to choose from that appeal to all budgets. The washing machine was great and the air conditioning unit in the bedroom was much appreciated. Great wireless Internet too. We highly recommend the café downstairs and the grocery shop across the street had everything we needed.

Great Apartment and Excellent Landlord!

Review Submitted: 10 August 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012
We are a family of four with two teen age kids aged 13 and 15. We stayed at Luca's apartment in August 2012 for 4 nights and had a great time. The area is lively and has a lot of restaurants. We walked all over town and did not take any public transport, this is part of the experience, The Vatican, Spanish Steps and Coliseum are under 2 miles, while the Pantheon, Trevi Foutain and Piazza Novona are about 1 to 1.25 miles away. The apartment is nicely equipped and has beautiful art all over the walls. The only suggestion I made to Luca is to have two sets of keys as we only had one. The cafe below has excellent cappuccino for 1.1 Euro! It was very hot in Rome and while there is a large A/C unit in the bedroom, it was a challenge to keep the apartment cool, but we managed, given that there was a fan in the living room where the kids slept on a futon - they didn't complain! The apartment is on the 4th floor, so be prepared for taking the stairs - there is no elevator.

Luca was an excellent communicator and returned our emails quickly, even as we had questions not related to the apartment. If you are more than 2 people, I suggest you take Luca's advice with the Taxi arrangement to and from the airport.

Loved it and will definitely stay again..
