I love traveling to tropical places, I love to read, cook, run, golf and hike
The Owner purchased this condo in 2004
I love the ocean and Kahalani is the perfect location, just 10 minutes from the airport and in a statepark with a beautiful sandy beach, Lydgate park and only 10 minutes from the town of Kapaa
Golf on the Walua golfcourse just up the road, hikes on Sleepy Giant, walks on the beach, Kayaking in the Wailua river.
This was the perfect condo for us to spend 6 nights. Since we had never been to Kauai, we chose this area because it was located in the middle of the island. While the airport is only 10 minutes south, there never was noise from airplanes taking off or landing. Travel to Hanalei to the north and Waimea to the south was less than an hour each way. The condo itself is maintained extremely well, and supplied with everything one would need. The grounds of Kaha Lani are kept up very well, too. In the time we were there, we barely saw anyone using the pool. It is a short walk through the property to get to the beach. A short walk to the north brings you to Lydgate Beach which is very family and kid friendly. We walked the beach to the south a couple of days all the way to the Kauai Beach Resort (2 miles?) and never saw more than a few people. There are many places to eat in Kapaa, along with a Foodland and Safeway grocery store. Lastly, the owner Mariel, is very reponsive to any questions we had and is very enjoyable to work with.
This is my second time staying at this property...and since my last trip the owner has upgraded the bathrooms and kept the whole place in great condition. Appliances, bathrooms, and kitchens are all modern and everything worked as advertised. We felt really comfortable, and the condo had everything we needed (including a few bonus amenities, like beach chairs & snorkle gear, which we used for some day trips). Mariel (the owner) is always responsive, and checked in with us to make sure we had what we needed.
The beach and pool are right there, so you've got the best of both worlds, and the location was central to some favorite hiking spots and beaches. I've recommended this place to my friends, I love that it's a well-cared for property, but its a small enough community that you don't have to fight for a spot at the pool. The only thing you have to worry about is the roosters! I'll be back. Hopefully soon!
We had a wonderful time here, very centrally located and best of both worlds with beach and pool close by. Everything you would need in a kitchen, beautiful balcony and very comfy king bed.
Thank you Mariel for accommodating us at this beautiful location for our 45th Wedding Anniversary Year. What a beautiful property and area. We loved the spacious condo, the extra powder room and the well equipped kitchen. Every morning we enjoyed the sunny lanai for our coffee and breakfast and after a day of sightseeing, the shade on the lanai was very welcome for relaxing. The ocean views and central location were appreciated. The roosters, beautiful as the are, do wake up early but one does get used to them. A beautiful, lush place to visit.
Do NOT rent this condo. Bedroom is stifling hot. Owner is aware of the problem, yet does not feel she has the moral/legal obligation to tell you how unbearably hot the bedroom gets from midday to after midnight. After you’re all paid up and you get there, her answer was "open the windows and turn all the fans on". Like we did not open all the windows. It does not help in the bedroom. Bedroom is in the back, away from the ocean breeze. You can hear the neighbours next door and downstairs all the time because all the windows are open. You can also hear the pool noise, which was quite used during our stay. Though there are some updates, condo lacks many basic, very basic amenities and necessities, and the living room sofa and bed are very uncomfortable. Owner was indifferent and dismissive. I had to contact a property management company that also rents out this condo, to finally get some help. NO Aloha spirit here. None. Stay somewhere else. This is YOUR vacation, YOUR money.
This condo was just perfect for us. We got delayed a day due to flight issues. Mariel was so accomodating, helpful and understanding to let us move our reservation. Once we got there we were pleasantly surprised with the condo. It's very updated and the bed, could possibly be the most comfortable bed I've slept on, great for after a long day hike. The location is perfect. It feels like it's in the middle of the island, so if you want to go to Princeville or the other side to Poipu it's not a far drive either way. The pictures are deceptive, they make it look like a bit of a walk to the ocean, but it's so close. The beach that is close is so long and perfect to walk along. The Lydgate park was really cool, that was just a little walk. Neighbors downstairs are amazingly nice. All and all, a great place to stay and affordable.
