Lovely vacation house near Mt. Shasta
House is modern, with a great kitchen, many glass windows so there's lots of light, a great back porch and backyard area for barbecue, 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds. It was clean, well-maintained, and attractive. It's off the beaten path, so it's very quiet, with only a dirt road going by the property. The owner was direct and easy to deal with, and our experience mostly matched the description. Hiking opportunities abound on Mt. Shasta and in nearby Trinity Alps, and it's an easy drive to the town of Mt. Shasta. Really pleasant. My only three gripes are minor: 1) it had cable, but only about 10 stations, with no broadcast channels ABC, CBS, etc. 2) One of the bathrooms had a rather strange shower. 3) The "lake" next to the property turned out to be a lakebed--interesting in its own right, but still not a lake. We didn't bring any pets, but I understand they're allowed. Bottom line, I'd recommend it for a small family or couple looking for a getaway.
Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Ah the lake...especially this year...ancient water rights mean that the water is drained each year...the positive input is because it is drained, when it is there, it is beautiful and clear--not a mucky pond...i do try to explain that in my description, but this year it was drained starting in JUNE, which made even July visitors have a compromised lake.
And I guess i need to put better instructions out on the TV. We have dish network with ALL of the networks, and ALL of the movie channels. i am sorry that it must have been set up on somebody's Favorites list without the networks listed....because they are there.
Anyway, glad a great time was had by all and i appreciate the feedback!
Hope to see you next year!
