Charming historic downtown furnished adobe apartment, about 1/2 mile to the Santa Fe Plaza. Monthly starts at $1350. If you see the calendar full for your dates, please send your inquiry anyway, because I can refer you to other places. About my place: WIFI, and satellite tv are there! Walking distance to DeVargas Mall, highway north and south, restaurants, museums, galleries, public transportation. This is half of a duplex, and there is one person next door.
The unit has all the equipment you need in the kitchen. There is a new washer and dryer.. The television is a flat screen and has a dvd player. The house is off the street 100 feet, where you get your own parking space to the right, not visible from the street.
The apartment is one mile from our famous dog park. PETS ARE NOT FORBIDDEN, BUT COULD EASILY ESCAPE! The neighbor has two friendly dogs that share the backyard. A CAT MUST NOT GO IN THE BACK YARD. So far no animal has had a problem there. If there are stray cats, I trap and neuter them and try to get them adopted, or care for them at the property. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR PETS!
Relax on the front or back porches and enjoy the shade in the front in the summer.
This building was constructed in 1908 and is a remodeled historic double adobe. It was a wedding present to Minnie Barela. It has hardwood and tile floors and a tile bath. The heat is gas baseboard. There is art from local artists on the walls and Santa Fe touches. There are linens for the bed and the sofa bed. There is a window unit AC, seldom used, and fans.

The convenience and privacy of this location can't be beat. People call it a sanctuary. It is not visible from the main street, and neighbors face in other directions. I was impressed with the beauty and history of the building. It is completely remodeled.
Many people enjoy this because they don't need a vehicle to go most places, in the ambience of a traditional neighborhood. Some have not had vehicles. There is one tenant on the other side with whom you share the porches and back yard. You can walk to the mall and its two grocery stores, and walk all over downtown easily, or catch buses nearby. They are good for security. I have not had any crime experience in this neighborhood in over 24 years, but caution is always advisable.
This is a very good place to stay. It is very near the plaza and other sites. I would have preferred better pillows and newer sheets but the place was comfortable and attractive. I like staying in a neighborhood where people live rather than in a hotel. The next door neighbor with her two fine dogs was friendly and my granddaughter was able to fly her kite.
The location of this casita is very central. I parked my vehicle for a week and walked everywhere I needed to go. The rental was spic 'n span, Janet is friendly and willing to help in any way needed. The kitchen is well equipped. Most of my meals were prepared in the casita's kitchen. If you like to walk, I would recommend bringing along a little backpack. Sprouts and Albertsons are a mere 5 minute walk. The neighborhood is quiet, which made for restful nights. Thank you Janet, I enjoyed my stay!
We spent a week at this charming casita located walking distance to all downtown sites and activities. The casita was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed for our week long stay in Santa Fe. Before arriving we questioned whether January was a good time to visit Santa Fe. We arrived to a bit of snow, but it quickly melted and most of our stay had sunny and comfortable temps for touring.
Janet was a great host. We appreciated the welcome gift of cookies, hot chocolate and treats. Her neighbor was also very helpful and gave us some good local tips of things to do.
We hope to return to Santa Fe and experience it in the spring or fall. We would definitely return to Janet's casita.
I absolutely loved this charming adobe cottage, a short walk away from the Plaza and art galleries; it's also right down the street from a mall with a well-stocked organic grocery store, a drug store, Office Depot, Starbucks, and other shops. This was my first trip to Santa Fe, and I not only fell in love with the city but with this house. If I could afford to, I would stay here every year! The price is great, and it's a wonderful alternative to staying in a bland, impersonal hotel. I truly felt like I was coming home in the evenings when I returned from exploring the city. The owner was very helpful, and the next-door neighbor was super-friendly. I would highly recommend staying here if you're independent and adventurous and would like to have a "home away from home" to base your travels from.
My husband and I stayed at the Historic Downtown Adobe Apartment for the fourth time. We absolutely love it. It's located within easy walking distance of the plaza and a number of the great restaurants, it's clean, it's quiet, it's decorated cute. It has laundry facilities if we need them. Our hostess is always very gracious and accommodating. We hope to come back again soon!
excellent !! I,ve stayed their 6 times over the last years for two months at atime in the summer !. Perfect . within walking distancet Plaza and shopping. Definitely a golden winner!! Owner will do everthing to make yolur stay GREAT!!
Note approximate distances above in meters and miles! The property is six and one-half blocks to the downtown Plaza and even closer to the DeVargas Mall, Sanbusco shopping area and many downtown restaurants, shops and theaters. It is about two blocks to St. Francis, which leads to 285 north and 599 to Albuquerque. The property and your vehicle parked there are not visible from the street.
