We looked for over a year at more than 50 residences to find the perfect London home base. Take the 15 minute express train from Heathrow Airport to Paddington Station, go one tube stop or a very short cab ride. You've arrived!
Private and Spacious Accommodations
Walk through the separate gate and front door of our Edwardian townhouse. Continue up our interior staircase. You are in a private, quiet residence. This is not an apartment complex with multiple units and anonymous hallways.
The reception room has three large windows and classic features marking the style of the late 1800's: nine-foot ceilings, crown molding, crystal chandeliers and period prints. It has a sofa bed for guests. The separate dining room, stocked with Portmeirion china, is a great place to laze. The eat-in kitchen has Bosch appliances, a washer, and a dryer. The two bedrooms, on the upper floor, are large and light. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. The second bedroom has a double and a single bed. The bathroom is vast, with a tub, shower, and bidet.
We provide wireless internet, a flat screen TV, a high-end stereo system with an ipod attachment and an assortment of guidebooks and brochures. And we take care of you with our own guide to the area, including local stores and restaurants, great walks, and easy transportation. We post this to you, along with a tube map and street map of London, before you arrive. Email us with questions. We or our English property manager will get back to you promptly.
The Charming, Safe Neighborhood
Maida Vale is one of Central London's upscale neighborhoods. Our block hosts a parade of shops, with a florist, hairdresser, beauty parlor, restaurants, and delis, such as Bon Appétit, specializing in homemade croissants. Paddington Recreation Grounds is one block away. This large park has two children’s playgrounds, workout facilities, and a running track. Little Venice, with its 18th century canals, quaint pubs, and notable white Georgian architecture, is a ten minute walk.
Want to venture a bit further? Take a walk to two different, well-known antique districts and open markets -- Church Street (Marylebone) or Portabello Road (Notting Hill). Try a stroll to numerous trendy restaurant areas or check out Abbey Road, where the Beatles recorded.
Central London at Your Door Step
Our townhouse is close to two tube stations, Maida Vale and Warwick Avenue. You can get anywhere in Central London with ease. For example, Oxford Circus, London’s shopping mecca, is a ten-minute tube ride. Piccadilly Circus, the center of the theater district, is a twelve-minute ride. The Number 6 bus runs 24 hours and stops two blocks from our residence. It has the best City route – stops at Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, and Trafalgar Square. You can get on and off the tubes and buses easily with a travel card. Whether you spend your days navigating the crowds on Oxford Street, touring Westminster Abbey, or awed by the Tower of London, you will welcome returning to our quiet, safe oasis.
My first experience with VRBO and I selected a winner... So pleased. The Townhouse is so 'London' with easy walking distance to the Tube station, restaurants, market and shopping. This was a girls trip with my sister and nieces so location was a prime consideration. Great areas nearby to take scenic walking tours (Portobello Road/Abbey Road) as recommended by the excellent area guide provided. The guide was our constant companion, it is filled with invaluable information, suggestions and maps. I highly recommend this rental, Fatijah is a pleasure to do business with.
The location of this town home is fantastic and the neighborhood is peaceful and safe. The home is spacious, very nicely decorated and includes many extras. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Just a quick walk to the Maida Vale tube station allowed us easy access to the sites in London. Great restaurants, bakeries and a variety of shops were within easy walking distance. The owner was very helpful and provided us with tour information prior to arrival. I would definitely stay here again!
I am do glad we decided to rent this home during our recent family vacation to London. It was perfect! Very comfortable, clean, good location, great recommendations for our time in London. We were traveling with a 2.5 year old toddler and it was wonderful to have a comfortable place for her to adjust to the new time zone and parks close by.
Staying at the flat in London was so much nicer than a hotel. It was cute and bright and comfortable. Kitchen is well supplied. Beds are nice (there are actually beds for 6 if you count the trundle under the twin). Plenty of closet space. Bathroom is large and clean. TV is large and new. With an in-unit washer and dryer, we were able to pack less clothing. Only negative is: small seating area for TV viewing (but you're not there to watch TV anyway). It's located in a nice residential area of London 3 blocks from tube station and 1/2 mile from the Tesco Express grocery. Wonderful fresh baguettes at the deli cross the street. Owner, provided us with lots of information prior to our visit. I would highly recommend this rental.
Our family of 5 stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Before we arrived, the owner was great about answering questions we had about London. During our stay, she stayed in touch to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is superb, but I'm slightly biased as I lived in this neighbourhood 20 years ago. We felt like residents in the community, rather than tourists. The location is so central - easy access to tube and bus. Our kids loved their London experience and are already asking when we can go back to stay in "our" flat. We'd definitely stay here again!
I highly recommend this special townhouse for anyone visiting London who wants more room and flexibility than a hotel provides. The home is in the lovely, upscale neighborhood of Maida Vaile. Situated close to the Tube and delicious eateries, this house provided everything we needed for a stress-free stay. We felt so welcomed by the owners whose considerate touches included maps, suggested walks, guide books, electric plug converters, wifi, a printer, cable tv, toiletries, laundry facilities and umbrellas. This townhouse was well appointed, spotlessly clean, and was well stocked with extra linens. There was nothing missed by these gracious owners.
We provide a street map of London that is yours to keep. The townhouse has a library of guidebooks and brochures on historical sights, museums, parks, restaurants, walks, pubs, and day trips that are not to be missed. We'll advise you on getting around by bus or tube, how to buy a travel card, a few lesser known sights of London, and a few of our favorite hole-in -the-wall restaurants. We also provide information on walks that we love and day trips to historic places an hour's train ride from London.
We love London and hope you will too.
