Located just 200 yards from the gondola station and village centre makes the apartment ideal for skiers, mountain bikers and walkers. Riding stables are adjacent for summer pony trekking. The apartment is on 3rd and 4th floor with uninterrupted mountain views.
It features a large balcony, 2 double bedrooms, 2 conjoined attic rooms each with 2 single beds, luxury corner bath/shower/bidet and also secure underground parking with ski locker.
The apartment has a fitted kitchen which includes a microwave oven, toaster, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Heat and unlimited hot water is by gas central heating. There is also a large flatscreen TV/ DVD combo with PlayStation, audio player, hairdryer, vacuum cleaner and iron.
Wireless internet is available for free and most of the bars and Hotels in the village also provide free WifI although password protected in most.
Out neighbours, the 4* Piolets Park Hotel and Spa includes an indoor/outdoor pool and jacuzzi, sauna and fitness suite all available to external guests and remains reasonably priced. Spa food and drinks are also available.
Summer and Winter Activities: Andorra and the Pyrenees are renown for winter sports. However, this resort offers fantastic summer holidays as well. Located just 2 hours drive from Barcelona, Perpignan, Lourdes and Toulouse, it makes a great base for exploring Europe's finest cities. The East and North coasts of Spain, the West and South coasts of France are all accessible.
In the resort the gondola also operates during summer time (July and August) opening up the mountain to extreme mountain biking, walking, dog sledges on wheels or just mountain walks to admire the views.
The Ice Palace in Canillo is 5 mins away and is the country's largest sports centre with ice skating, swimming, tennis and go karts for those looking for a more adventurous holiday. The tourist office in Canillo also caters for those who wish to explore the mountain directly, with mountain climbing, white water rafting and a variety of other mountain activities up for discovery!
In the capital (15 mins drive away) are some of Europe's best shops and are all duty free. Literally a shoppers mecca, with quality goods from around the world. Caldea in the capital boasts Europe's largest spa and relaxation centre and is always worth the time!
Getting There: By Air : Perpigan, Barcelona and Toulouse Airports are all approximately 2 hours drive. Regular buses run from Barcelona and Toulouse (tel Novatel +376803789 or Nadel +376805151). Other airports include Carcassonne and Pau. Cheap flights can be found with Easyjet; BMIbaby; BA; Ryanair, Flybe, Thomsonfly and Monarch.
By Train : The nearest station is L'Hospitalet in France, 30Kms away, tel +33561052078. Bus from here is Hispano tel +376821372.
By Car : We have driven several times leaving Dover mid morning and this put puts us in Central France, near Limoges by evening. Then a nice drive next day puts us in Soldeu by mid afternoon. We usually drive the return leg from Soldeu early morning to Calais late evening where we overnight.
Friends have also driven using the Portsmouth to St Malo crossing overnight with only an 8 hour drive through France. The ferry from Bilbao/Santander to Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries is also a superb option and allows for a cruise in addition to enjoying the moutain retreat!
Shopping: Andorran shopping is known worldwide, to the point that it has become one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions and a good addition to any holiday activity. You can always make your journey to Andorra worthwhile with a few good buys.
Andorra’s privileged tax status provides very competitive prices and shops stock a large selection of products in sectors such as jewellery, optical items, sporting goods, perfumes, electronics, models, food and designer clothing, alcohol and tabacco. It’s hard not to find what you’re looking for in Andorra; there are over 4.800 shops!
In Andorra, it is a shoppers paradise, with bargain prices all year around. Electronic items have low prices. Ski's and ski wear are cheap, with shops that can cater for every Skiers and Snowboarders needs.
Local distilleries fill plastic bottles from the cask with home made spirits, ports etc for approx 3 Euros per litre.
1000's of branded drinks are also available at increadible prices.
With so much to see, there has never been a better time to visit Andorra. It's reputation for both Summer and Winter activities has increased dramatically and can easily rival and out compete the most traditional of ski resorts in Europe at a fraction of the price.
