Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Kennebunkport
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6
This lovely, peaceful cottage, perfectly situated among nature, overlooks the salt marsh and Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Features include an open living/dining area with vaulted ceiling, spiral staircase to loft bedroom, completely rehabbed bathroom, and new hardwood and tile throughout. Bring your kayak for ocean access from the private dock at high tide, enjoy the serenity of the marsh while relaxing on one of the two rear decks, or take a leisurely walk on the white sands of Goose Rocks Beach.
My husband and I stayed here for two nights in March. The weather was perfect- 40-50 and sunny. The cottage is really cute, and perfect for us and our two dogs. It was well kept and clean, although a few things need some attention (kitchen cabinets, some outside trim). But those didn't affect the peaceful serenity of our surroundings. We spent the afternoons playing games at the table enjoying the view of the marsh. The dogs loved exploring in the back and we could watch them from the porch. It is a little closer to the road than it looks, but there was not too much traffic. Kennebunkport was a short drive away and the owner was nice enough to send us some ideas on restaurants/things to do. Would definitely stay again!
This is the 4th Rental home that I've rented and I also rent my own cottage. This is the worst experience I've had. It was all the little things that added up to me not recommending this place unless it is your last option. This shower had a hole in the base of it, the kitchen cupboard were falling off. I was surprised that linens were not provided as this is the first place I've ever seen this. I was also a little surprised at the cleaning expectations. I've never experienced this, nor would I as a property owner expect my customers to clean to the level that was expected. The location of the place is great, and we loved that... It was simply all the little things made me feel like I was taken advantage of given the price I paid.
We stayed a week in this beautiful house & it was wonderful! The house is just a short walk or drive to Goose Rocks Beach- a lovely beach for walk. The bay window looks out at a marsh & is so restful to look at. We saw many birds during our stay. Being on a side street, the house gives privacy to renters during their stay. The owners are an e-mail away & appreciate hearing how the house is. We're looking forward to staying again next year!

Families with Young Children,
My family of four stayed at this cottage in June 2013. It was as described, but I agree with another reviewer that said it could use a bit of TLC, especially on the outside. It is a short walk to a beautiful beach. If you however take a lot to the beach (like we do since we have small children), you may want to check into getting a parking permit at the town. The parking spots near the beach are all permit only. There is no where to park without a permit. The house met our needs, but I would say that it would be very, very tight for 6. It rained a lot while we were staying there and there were plenty of books, games, puzzles, etc for us to use. The cable TV came in handy during some of the rainy times, too. It was not high season while we were there, so it was very quiet and peaceful. One thing I would mention for anyone that stays here is that you need to have a good plan for the day you leave. Checkout at 10am comes very quickly when you want to eat breakfast, pack up the remaining things and do the cleaning. It was a challenge for us to get out by 10am and I had packed most of our things the night before. The cleaning is not a big deal to complete, but you need to have the time to finish it.
Owner's Response: Thanks Jennifer! Good point on the checkout time. As long as we don't have guests coming the same day we can usually be flexible on the checkout time and do later in the day. Just shoot us an email. Thanks for your feedback on the exterior too. We are planning on doing a refresh on the exterior and maybe change the color to a gray/blue. Appreciate the feedback!
Very nice location, great dock on the marsh. Easy walks to the beach and easy ride to Kennebunkport Center. The home needs some TLC but it was clean and nicely appointed. It was a very nice place to stay.
The Southern Maine Coast has much to offer in addition to pristine beaches - scenic drives, lighthouses, antiquing, outlet shopping, active pursuits, a rich history, and plenty of classic New England charm. Goose Rocks is a quiet area of Kennebunkport featuring a three-mile beach, General Store, wildlife habitat, and spectacular views. Kennebunkport Village (5 miles from Goose Rocks) offers fine dining, boutiques, and more. Kittery (outlet shopping) and Portland (Maine's largest city) are each only a 30 minute drive away.
