Got to love Aruba,
To be fair I will have to give full marks for location and amenities of the complex and the amazing uncrowded beach. We walked for miles every morning and were able to travel easily to every part of the island we wanted to see.
The unit was spacious , clean, great balconies and overall a comfortable place to stay.
There are some deficiencies that,in our opinion , would cause us pause to rate this rental unit as a true Luxury rating.
Having paid what one would consider a Luxury rate one would reasonably expect full proper sets of patio furniture on each balcony and folding portable beach lounge chairs not the cheap plastic stacking chairs provided with the expectation that they should double as both. The chairs are awkward to carry over to the beach and not comfortable . Hate to sound childish but all the other renters we saw were provided with proper beach loungers and patio furniture. Not to pick away but some of the kitchen utensils are rusted up, some of the beach towels are thin and cheap, only 1 dish towel,1 dish cloth and a used dish sponge provided. The bed linens in general are not worthy of a luxury rental rating.
Of the 3 hair dryers provided 1 didn't work, the 2nd couldn't even dry my bald spot and the 3rd is missing the rear safety shroud on the fan which ensnared a large chunk of my wife's hair. Travel with a wife and 2 teen daughters and that my friends is a significant deficiency.
It would be helpful if the there were some basics provided on arrival. We too run a vacation property business(our weekly rate is 1/4 of this unit, but Michigan is not Aruba) and provide the dish, hand and laundry soaps as well as leaving the kitchen stocked with basic condiments and spices beyond salt and pepper. Not cost significant (easily covered by a $25 up-charge per week) but our guests find it extremely convenient upon their arrival after a long travel day.
Again , loved our trip, the location, beach and complex are amazing(5 star). With a little investment in appropriate upgrades to match the description given and expectation created I could easily have been be persuaded to have rated the unit equally well : will have to settle for 4 stars.
Owner's Response: To be fair to the guest that posted this, we did "miss the mark" on several points brought up.
However, I would like to explain our position on the items that were portrayed as negative.
First and foremost, we have always strived to remedy any deficiencies IMMEDIATELY as they are brought to our attention. Our Villa is not a hotel with maintenance staff so we rely on our guests notifying our fulltime onsite manager ,JC, of any problems so that we may rectify them during the guest's stay and hopefully , right at the beginning-Absent any notification we cannot fix what we are not aware of.
It’s very unfortunate that the guest DID NOT notify JC of their concerns at any time during their stay. It would have been a very simple matter to provide fresh linens, additional luxury grade towels, new hairdryers, and more starter supplies. Ironically, all of these items are/were already on the premises, kept in locked cabinets (anti-theft) and a single phone call to JC would have solved most all the complaints in this review. This is our first somewhat negative review in over seven years of continuous operation and it pains us greatly.
JC is always available via cell phone or email at any time during a guest's stay, and our signage and Guest Guide clearly list all his contact info.
With regard to the plastic, stackable furniture, every guest is provided with a Guest Guide and Rental Agreement in advance of arrival advising we provide resin molded plastic stackable furniture only. We also go on to say that we have an arrangement with a small boutique hotel adjacent to our property that will provide complete luxury chaise lounge setups for our guests for a nominal fee ($5/day low season $10/day high season)
As to the "other renters that were provided with better quality" beach furniture, we are not sure who these people are/were but the majority of people at Oceania are not renters. They are permanent Venezuelan Residents or retired Americans who can care for and maintain their own beach accessories daily.
We provide Salt and Pepper, just like all the high end timeshares on Aruba and every other Island (Maui, St Barts, St Kitts etc.) that we have visited , but again what we provide and do not provide is clearly explained by our Guest Guide received in advance. You can't compare Michigan to Aruba on any level and we stand by the value of our pricing-Many people come to Aruba for a Winter Holiday- Michigan-no! .Please read all reviews to get a fair picture!
