Guestbook comments from the owner

We chose this condo after reading lots of reviews about the property itself and this E-107 condo in particular. While we had some reservations as to the general condition of the property, when we opened the door and stepped inside this condo, we knew we had made the right decision. There was a beautiful welcome basket left on the table acknowledging our 25th Anniversary which was such a surprise. The view from the living area was quite spectacular and the water was a mere 30 feet away as described.

The photos of the condo do not do it justice. It is everything and much, much more. It is very evident that the owners care very much about guests having a great experience. We did not want for anything. Susan keeps this condo is great shape, very clean and well-stocked.

While planning for our trip, Susan answered all of our questions, offered some great advice and suggestions, all in a timely manner. She even called us after arrival to be sure we arrived and were happy.

We have already reserved our stay for next year and look forward to making this an annual trip. Thank you Susan and Mark! FIVE STARS

If you are looking to unwind/relax from the typical stresses of the world go no further.

  • 5 of 5

Susan and Mark have a lovely condo in a very prime location on St. Thomas USVI. The ability to walk directly out to the beach from our 1st floor unit was ideal. Additionally, the condo is in one of the quietest complexes of all the resort community located on Sapphire Beach.

Our 1 year anniversary trip to St. Thomas was incredible. We both have very high pressure and mentally taxing careers, which this trip was the dose of medicine needed to recalibrate our thoughts to move forward with our lifelong goals and aspirations. Overall, if you are looking to unwind/relax from the typical stresses of the world go no further.

Accommodation Highlights:

• First and foremost, the owners of this property are refreshingly welcoming. I was 100% at ease, and ready to move forward with the reservation after talking with Susan over the phone. The phone call was very unexpected, but I was confident in our final decision after the brief introductory call. After our commitment was made we received a very useful packet of information about St. Thomas and things to do on the island.

• The unit was very clean, and appeared to have been updated/remodeled from initial construction

• We always felt safe with a security checkpoint to enter the resort community, in addition to a guard walking the property during the day. The security overall was effective and non-evasive.

• There were ample towels/clothes during our week stay.

• Electric Grill - We used the electric grill located on the balcony daily, which we were able to cook some exquisite meals during our stay.

Location Benefits:

• The local grocery store (Food Center) was in close proximity the condo, and also on the way from the STT airport.

• Day Say Excursion:

○ The NewHorizon's day-sail, which we highly recommend, is within walking distance to this condo (marina is next to condo complex).

• St. John (Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay)

○ The ferry from Redhook (St. Thomas) to Cruz Bay (St. John) is within 5 minutes of the Condo

○ Ferry/Wait time to Trunk Bay was about 1 hr, which was well worth the journey. Trunk Bay was our favorite beach. (Top 10 beach in the world per Discover Travel Channel)

• Megans Beach Only 15 minutes away. (Top 10 beach in the world per Discover Travel Channel)

Beautiful Resort & Condo!

  • 5 of 5

Susan & Mark maintain a great condo there at Sapphire Beach - it's very clean and well maintained - the same goes for the resort itself. They are great folks who do a really nice job of providing as much information as possible for you before your visit so don't hesitate to ask questions as it's obvious they are incredibly knowledgeable about the island itself.

The best advice I can give for folks who are looking to go to St. Thomas for the first time (this was our first time to anywhere in the Caribbean) is that the driving there is a little scary - if you're not used to driving on the left side of the road, go slow, and yield to other drivers as you will be driving around pretty sharp turns on mountainous roadways. We had folks just walk out into the road in front of us where we had to sharply stop and other vehicles cut us off repeatedly and it seems this is fairly normal behavior due to the island being very laid back. Also, the island itself when you get off the resort is a bit impoverished, which from my research and speaking with folks who have been to the area, is fairly normal for most Caribbean islands. This can make you a little uncomfortable to walk around. We didn't really feel comfortable going out much on our own as parking was hard to find and some places just didn't look all that safe to us, so we pretty much loaded up on groceries and stayed at the Condo resort which has 24/7 security. So lesson here - take a taxi if you don't plan on driving a lot.

We swam at both Sapphire beach at the condo (this is probably the prettiest beach you'll ever see - swimming out in the ocean a good 50 yards from shore was so much fun - you can see 15-20 feet out into the ocean under water making it easy to see fish, coral, etc. - very enjoyable) as well as Magen's Bay (I'd highly recommend going here). Also the water temperature was fantastic. Not too cold and not too hot. Couldn't have been a better experience with the oceans which was the primary reason we went.

Whether you rent a car or not, I'd recommend taking one of the local tours. We booked a tour on Tuesday with Sunny Liston's local tours. It was about $30-40 per person (plus tip at the end). This was a good experience for us as they came to the resort to pick us up, then took us to Charlotte Amalie to shop for a couple hours, then picked us up and took us to some sight seeing locations to take pictures and then they offer to take you to some various beaches for a couple hours.

Owner's Response: Hi Brandon, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It's always great to hear what first time island guests have to say about the island and condo in particular. We are happy that you enjoyed yourselves and found the condo comfortable and clean. We do our best to make your experience a positive one. There is a saying in the islands that most of our beauty is right below the sea and we're happy that you got to enjoy a couple of our beaches. There are approx. 40 beaches on St Thomas, each one with its own unique features. Sapphire and Magen's are two of our favorites! As far as parking being an issue, you are correct. Unfortunately you had to deal with two unusual factors with lack of parking... You visited during St Thomas Carnival which brings in lots of extra travelers. Also, this year there seems to be more construction than usual taking place. In fact, Charlotte Amalie is undergoing some major redesigning to help this particular parking problem. We can only hope that once improvements are made, this will alleviate some of the parking issues you experienced. Again, thank you for writing a positive review. We certainly welcome you back for another visit. Warmest Regards, Mark & Susan

Perfect Location - Perfect Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

E-107 Sapphire Beach Resort was fantastic. For starters, the owners of the Condo, Susan and Mark Twardoski, were so helpful and informative when planning our trip. I've never experience an owner so willing to make our trip perfect.

The accommodations were perfect and well furnished. Ideally located on the east side of the Island, you had access to all the beautiful beaches and Red Hook Marina for ferry's, boat excisions, rentals, dining and night life. We very much enjoyed waking up on the beach and seeing St Johns and the sunrise. Sapphire Beach also allows for interaction with other vacationers or seclusion; the choice is yours. We also enjoyed being right next door to the Marina. We actually booked a dinner cruise (Horizon - Capt. John - Fantastic fun) that sailed from there. At the suggestion of Susan, we also bought fresh Mahi right off a fishing boat for the fraction of the cost of buying it at the store (great tip).

As a heads up and no reflection on our accommodations, be prepared for the possibility of losing power on the Island occasionally. It usually only lasts for a couple of hours but can be very inconvenient if it is during meal time.

If you want to stay on a beautiful beach, see beautiful sunrises and marvel at the surrounding beauty, E-107 is the perfect place. ENJOY!!!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to write the wonderful review. It's such a pleasure to have guests such as yourselves who appreciate all the natural beauty that surrounds us at Sapphire Beach. There's really nothing more beautiful than watching the lights twinkle and the moon rise over St John - all from the patio of the condo. Glad that you had the opportunity to take a dinner cruise with New Horizons. You sure can't beat the convenience of sailing from our marina just a few yards from the door of the condo. Sorry about the numerous power failures during your stay. You sure had more than the usual occurrences and we now know that it was because the entire grid was switching from gas to propane. Now that the switch is done, there haven't been any annoying outages. We hope that you consider our condo for another stay in the near future. We'd love to have you back.... Mark & Susan

Great condo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful 35th Anniversary week in St. Thomas. The condo was ideal, right on the beach and on the first floor. The patio was fantastic, covered from the sun, a nice table and chairs, and the sound of the waves. There's a great view to St. John's and beyond. Red Hook is nearby for essentials and entertainment. All food markets are very close if you drive. We brought our own masks and snorkels and spent an afternoon checking out the reef right out the patio door. Numerous fish to see.You can rent if needed. At night we just lay back in bed and saw the twinkling lights of Cruz Bay, St. John's. Very scenic. The condo was well furnished, even a special request for a cold bottle of bubbly was waiting for our arrival, thanks Susan, my wife loved it! The unit was very clean and well maintained. A very comfy bed. The satellite tv had everything you could want, we watched the first rounds of March Madness.

Unit E is ideal for those who like the ocean nearby, no trees blocking the view, and set aside from all the other units. Units A - C had the main beach out front, but the beach was much wider and at the waters edge the view was blocked by all of the trees. It's a much busier area.

As far as the entire facility, there is a definite need to update the pool area and scuba/snorkel rental shack. The pool is very nice, but the pool building was roped off. Not sure if construction was due, or not. A nice on site bar/pub would have been fantastic, no need to leave. All meals were either in the condo, or in Red Hook and beyond (we had a car). I recommend renting a car if you want to see the island. We had a very nice dinner at A Room With A View at Bluebeard's Resort in town (not the one on the beach) for our special dinner.

The Charlotte Amalie airport is a bit deceiving, small, and easily traveled on your inbound flight, but quite hectic on departure (8:00 a.m.). Arriving 90 minutes early, we stood in line to check bags (American Airlines), stood in line for customs, and stood in line for security. At these stops no one seemed concerned about speed. We just made the flight with minutes to spare, not sure about those arriving later than us. Our flight was not full. Advice, get there early. The car rental return was so easy, a drop box for keys.

I'd recommend this unit for a beautiful vacation, quiet, scenic, yet close to the the main beach and more activity if that's your thing. The small beach out front wast perfect for us.

Owner's Response: Dave & Stella, Thank you so much for taking time to write such a nice review. Happy that you enjoyed your stay. We try hard to make our guests as comfortable as possible. Although our pool bar/restaurant are closed, we do hope that the owner (property not owned by our condo assoc) will be opening back up in the near future. We have heard through the grapevine that it may be opened for the 2015/16 winter season. Glad that you enjoyed the location of our condo as well. It is situated on the smaller, quieter beach which typically gets a nice breeze from down island... and you can't beat watching the moon rise over St John... As far as the airport being busy at times, we would like to share a secret... Pay the skycap porter to help with your bags when you arrive at airport (upon departure) and he will gladly bring you up to the front of the line and thru customs. Well worth the $20 if you don't want to wait in line. Please consider us again for your next trip to the Caribbean. Mark & Susan

Perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

This condo was just like the pictures on line. The water was just 20 steps from the patio. Quiet and relaxing yet close to the action in Rehook. We rented a car which gave us freedom to explore the island and also go over t St. John. This condo is perfect for a relaxing getaway. You can cook if you want or go out. We bought fresh fish from the boats at the marina next to our condo and grilled it on the grill that was provided. Local grocery store had everything we needed. I highly recommend this property to get away from it all

Owner's Response: Thank you for the glowing review Ron & Sue. So happy that you enjoyed your stay and got to try out some of the fresh local seafood. It sure doesn't get any fresher than buying it right off the dock at our marina. Glad that you found the place comfortable and relaxing. Thank you for taking such good care of our condo during your stay. Come back anytime!

Great Property in a Great Location

Very Nice property in a great location next to Red Hook, convenient for dining/drinks, shopping and ferry rides to St. John. The condo was well stocked, clean, cozy and 30 steps to the ocean. It sits on a nice quiet beach with white sand and clear water.
