Only 15 minutes drive from Asheville, less than 5 miles from Black Mountain in Beautiful Western North Carolina! The property is adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest. Very nearby attractions include The gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell, horseback riding, white water rafting, tours of Biltmore Estates, Mining for gems and gold, fishing, hiking, Linville Falls and Caverns, shopping in the arts and crafts town of Black Mountain, restaurants, libraries, and much, much more! Yet, you would never believe you were that close to civilization. This cabin is surrounded by trees, and gorgeous views of the mountains. The setting is serene and restful to the max! Please be aware there is about three quarters of a mile of gravel road (good condition and not difficult), and this property sits on an incline (about 9 degrees) however our street is paved. The parking lot is gravel The house is not wheelchair accessible. We have had no problems with any members of our families or friends who have come up to see the house.
I retired in 2007 after 35 years of teaching at the University of Central Florida. My wife, is 'partially retired' as a forensic economist. We had intended to split our living between Florida and North Carolina but my wife's occupation did not permit us to do so.
Walter Bogumil purchased this cabin in 2005
The area is secluded yet only a few minutes and about 3 miles from the Interstate 40. my wife is primarily responsible for the interior design and decor (much of which we brought back from trips abroad). The folks who clean our home to an outstanding job.
Our family of 7 had a great week in the mountains. The home was warm and comfortable with everything that we could have needed. We created many new memories with our children and had time to rest and unwind after a busy holiday season. We saw much of the Asheville area and even ventured to Gatlinburg Tn. We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and took in it's beauty and even saw some snow fall. I would definitely recommend renting this cabin for any length of stay.
Our family stayed here for 4 nights. This property is all that it appears to be and more. The owner was a delight and responded quickly to any questions or needs. The cabin is nicely decorated and furnished in keeping with a mountain lodge theme. Thank you Walter and we hope to be back soon!
We arrived on Sunday afternoon, a little road weary, but instantly revived as we were welcomed to a lovely home instead of a just a rental property. The house was beautifully and tastefully decorated and comfortable. We are three couples who get together once a year to catch up and enjoy each others company. We felt like we were home and enjoyed our time together in this inviting atmosphere. We cooked all but two of our meals in a great kitchen. The location was ideal - close to Old Fort, the Pisgah National Forest and Black Mountain which made exploring and shopping exciting. We would recommend The Verandah in Black Mountain as a great place for lunch. I would recommend this property to everyone.
Cabin is not quite the word to define this exceptional well furnished and decorated mountain home. The cabinets house more than ample dishes, flat wear and cooking utensils; the interior holds treasures and comfortable beds. It is a short drive to scenic sites, quaint railroad museum and art gallery in Old Fort that offer an appreciation of the history or the region; and, it is a short drive on the Parkway to hiking trails that open the peace of this location to you.
WOW! The cabin and the mountain view is just gorgeous. We were so delighted. Love the décor, Love the location, Love the porch, Love the comfortable bed, Love the big kitchen. Everyday we went out for adventure, biking, hiking, and it was so nice to have such a restful place to stay. It was close to town, and Andrews Geyser was a fun surprise! We will definitely visit again.
The cabin was spectacular. It provided the perfect astrosphere for a relaxing weekend. We could have stay in the cabin the entire time and been content but we ventured out to Black Mountain and Asheville. If you rent this cabin you would not be disappointed it has everything. The owners were very helpful as too give suggestions as for area attractions and restaurants. Everything needed was provided. Couldn’t have asked for anymore.
