Situated within the prestigious Poipu-Kai area on the South Shore of Kauai, featuring 70 acres of tropical gardens. It is just a short walk through the resort grounds to Shipwreck beach or Poipu Beach Park (a snorkeler’s paradise). The resort has nine tennis courts. There is a shop for all your tennis needs, including rentals. After the game relax in one of the Jacuzzi spas or swimming pools. You can barbecue your 'catch of the day' in one of the well maintained grills near the pool.
Accommodations: This beautiful, airy condominium (1438 square feet of living space) is furnished as a complete vacation home. Our 'Hale' (home) features a master bedroom with king sized bed, private full bathroom with double sinks. The guest bedroom features 2 single beds and a guest bathroom. The loft features 2 single beds and a half bathroom. Both sets of single beds can be converted to king sized beds.
The kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, range-oven, dinnerware, small appliances, and pots and pans. There is a washer and dryer and extra linens including beach towels. The home also features premium channel color TV, DVD and CD players, private phones with data ports. Each room has its own ceiling fan to augment the island’s dependable, gentle trade winds. Sip your morning coffee on the covered lanai and watch the beautiful island sunrise.
Beaches: Poipu Kai fronts on two well known beaches….Shipwreck Beach and Brennecke Beach, each an excellent bodysurfing beach. Next to Brennecke beach is Poipu Beach Park, rated the best beach in North America for four years running. It features a sheltered “baby beach” for toddlers and parents, a fully equipped children’s playground, and a great snorkeling and swimming beach with every variety of tropical fish usually only seen in aquariums.
Golf: There are two championship 18-hole courses available near the resort: The Kihuana Golf Course and the prestigious Poipu Bay Resort Course. Guests need to arrange with the individual courses for tee times. Within driving distance are several other courses in Princeville, Kalaheo, and Kapaa.
Restaurants: Brennecke's restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner at the beach; good burgers, fish and drinks. They have a great crab meal for dinner. Don’t forget Lapperts’ ice cream for a real treat. It’s fresh made in Hanapepe and definitely a landmark destination. They are located throughout the island: Hanapepe, Koloa (just a couple of miles from the house), Kapaa, Princeville, Hanalei, etc.
When you want to get dressed up and go to a really nice restaurant there are three at the Hyatt resort next door that are definitely world class. It's just East down Poipu Rd. from the condo. Incidentally getting dressed up in Kauai for a guy entails a nice pair of shorts and a breezy Hawaiian shirt and sandals. The ladies usually wear something slinky and cool with heels. Get her a nice lei for the occasion (Star Market or in Koloa at the Big Save). We really enjoy the Hyatt’s Ilima Terrace restaurant (especially Sunday brunch), but there are two others just as nice: Dondero's (fine Italian food), and Tide Pools (Seafood).
They also have a wonderful island Luau once a week complete with Hawaiian entertainment. After dinner take a slow stroll around the grounds. The Hyatt continually gets awards for the beauty of its resort. Check out the torch lighting ceremony and the Hula show at the Seaview Terrace evenings around 6:00. The ladies may want to take advantage of the Anara Spa. It's open to the public and they offer wonderful massages, facials, exercise classes, etc.
Island activities: For the shoppers there are some very nice boutiques in the Poipu Village shopping center just East on Poipu Road. There are also boutique shops at the surrounding resorts, e.g.,

Guestbook comments from the owner
Jim & Juliana,
We recently stayed at #123, in fact we left yesterday. I noticed the notebook to write about our experiences but being a person with possibly the worst handwriting in the world and the fact we had so many wonderful times I thought I would email instead.
First my wife and I stayed at another location for 3 days celebrating our marriage in August. Then we moved to your place because some of our children were coming over to celebrate with us. We have a combined total of 9 now that our 2 familes are together. Most are grown and out of the house but we still have a few living with us. No one except my wife has been to Kauai before so we were all looking forward to our stay. Before the kids came over my wife and I drove all over looking for the best beaches for our various personalities and experience. We put over 350 miles on the car in 3 days. An amazing island. Once the 4 other kids came we were nonstop action. Your location is perfect for getting to all the places we wanted to go. If you want to see some of the stuff we did you can look at my son's instagram account where he's posted several adventures. (Anfieldorbust) I don't know anything about instagram so I hope you do. We snorkeled almost everyday and most often it was 2 or 3 times per day just so we could visit as many places as possible. We ate so many wonderful dinners everywhere from Hanalei (several times) to right around the condo. We all agreed that not once did we have a meal we didn't absolutely love. If it wasn't for all the activity I think I would have gained 10 pounds but instead I lost weight. Even on days like the day we checked out Waimea Canyon, we still managed to snorkel on 3 different beaches. In all total with the 6 of us we saw 8 or more turtles with the last one coming our last morning sunning himself on Brennekes beach. Huge 5' or 6' long Green Sea Turtle. Amazing. Stuff done, not in order. Coffee Plantation tour, Waimea canyon then shrimp tacos at shrimp station, (best on earth) hiked the 4 miles of the na pali, kayaked the wailua river and then jumped off cliffs, swam and jumped from cliffs into the Queens Bath, hiked to some falls that our kayak guide told us about and jumped some more cliffs, boogied boarded 5 different beaches, visited 10 different beaches, snorkeled 8 different beaches, ate at a different restaurant every night, watched a sunset almost every evening from a different location.
