After quitting our own business (Mark) and corporate job (me) and then selling our home with everything in it, we travelled the US in our motorhome for what came to be 6 wonderful years! We drove our motorhome to Joshua Tree about 7 years ago to visit friends and never left. It is a beautiful place!
Christa Cranston purchased this house in 1998
Almost every guests comments about how much they love the location of the house with it just being a 1/2 mile from Joshua Tree National Park's west entrance and part of Monument Manor where most homes are on 5 acres or more, giving everyone room to breathe!
The back yard is very private with a big hot tub and lots of outdoor seating.
What a great house. Great location and you can't go wrong with joshua tree so beautiful. Also great pizza just down the road
We spent a week at the rio house with my sister and her husband. We felt so pampered, with the beautiful home. There was plenty of room for us all to spread out, even tho we tended to congregate in the kitchen/family room. The upstairs master bedroom was a wonderful retreat at the end of the day. We had fires at night in the firef pit while watching the stars come out and the guys started each day with a soak in the hot tub. I enjoyed being able to wash our hiking clothes each night. Being from Oregon we tended to wilt in the heat so we would get up early, pack a picnic lunch and be out on the trails by 7:30. The house is located just a few minutes from the park, so we spent very little time driving to the trailheads. We plan to return again before long. We did have an issue with the hot tub, but one call to the owners and they came over immediately, even tho it was late at night. Great customer service!
Spent a guys-weekend here with some friends, great location, great amenitities, good times at JT Saloon right up the street. Highly recommend this house.
The Rio house was a perfect place for our family to reunite and spend quality time together. Our adult daughters traveled with us to enjoy a few days exploring Joshua Tree National Park. The Rio house was perfect, it had everything we could need, was very welcoming and felt like home! Although it was cold and rained during our short stay ( which I am sure was a welcome relief for those living in the desert) we were able to enjoy the home and still explore the park. Upon leaving, we were already discussing our next vacation here.
My husband and I spent four nights at the Rio House with our dog, Schnitzel. We had a wonderful time. The house is lovely, clean, and comfortable, with great indoor and outdoor seating. We spent much of our time in the backyard, either in the hot tub or sitting and reading (during the day) or having cocktails (at night) on the comfy outdoor furniture. While we visited nearby JT, we found we had more fun walking with the dog up the dirt road and around the property. So many jackrabbits! In addition to the rabbits, we saw and heard a little band of coyotes, who came right by the fence. We generally try to meet three criteria for vacation houses: fenced-in yard, private hot tub, and king-sized bed. The yard and the hot tub exceeded our expectations. And we decided to compromise on the bed since the place looked so great when we were deciding on a rental. We'd probably be back every year for sure if there was a king in one of the bedrooms ... But it's hard to beat star-watching in that amazing hot tub while listening to the coyotes yipping right on the other side of the fence!
We met our adult children here for a chance to explore Joshua Tree and do some relaxed visiting. Rio House was perfect for our needs - amazingly well equipped kitchen, as we all like to cook and eat together. A great place to relax together after a day of hiking or climbing at Joshua Tree. It was too windy to try out the hot tub, but otherwise wonderful!
