Apartment has three large rooms in the Winter Palace. The Winter Palace was an elegant hotel used in the early 20th century and has been converted to apartments. The Winter Palace stands in a 1.7 hectare, lovely enclosed garden containing a wide variety of sub-tropical plants. It faces south offering a clear view of the sea, the garden, and the town of Menton. It is only (walking) minutes away from a range of shops and restaurants and the sea. The bus station is a six minute walk and the train station ten minutes. There is parking in the garden.

This apartment is fully equipped, in particular with beautiful Italian Carrara marble on floor and walls in the kitchen, bathrooms, and entrance. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine, traditional 'tomettes'ceramic tiles in other rooms, Liberty style glass window and some antique furniture. There are 3.8 meter ceilings and it is therefore cool in summer. Winter comfort is provided by radiators. All rooms have large French windows, one room has a small balcony. Two rooms have original marble fire places (non working).

Menton has a beautiful Italian old town and a wide variety of bistros, a casino, movie theatres, concerts,museums, gardens.

An open air market is held every day, including on Sunday, at a five-minute walking distance.

Séjour dépaysant

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Menton dans cet appartement au cœur d'un ancien palace, très bien situé sur les hauteurs de la ville, permettant d'apprécier le lever du soleil sur la mer. Il nous était facile de rejoindre le bord de mer en traversant le splendide jardin qui entourait l'édifice. Un séjour de charme pour qui apprécie la nature et la luminosité. Merci au propriétaire.

Wonderful Views

We stayed in this apartment for only four days - wish it could have been longer - it was delightful - had everything we needed and the great views were well worth the climb. It is hilly so be prepared for some uphill walks - my consolation was thinking it wore off some of the delicious food in the many restaurants we ate in. The shops, beach, markets, cafes , buses. were all easily accessible so not necessary to have a car. The concierge was very helpful - picked us up at the bus station as the trains and taxis were on strike the day we arrived. That was much appreciated! I would recommend this apartment and the town of Menton.

Glorious Vacation Spot

We recently rented this apartment for two weeks in January 2014. The building is beautiful, quite high, with a gorgeous view of the sea and a large garden. That same view is visible from each of the apartment's rooms. This is a lovely place for a vacation. The apartment has high ceilings, large, airy rooms, terrace doors opening onto Juliet balconies, a very well-equipped kitchen, marble and tile floors, an intriguing book collection in multiple languages, and great bathrooms. The owner was prompt with all communications. She ensured that we were prepared for our arrival and that our stay was comfortable. I highly recommend Menton....a lovely small city... very walkable, with beautiful gardens, a wonderful daily market and a seaside promenade tailor-made for strolling. I've already shared my photos with friends and we hope to return some day.

Great apartment

We had a lovely stay at the apartment in Menton. The place is lovely and there is a great view. We'd definitely go back. We didn't bring a car, but it the apartment is quite convenient to walk to the bus and train stations or the beaches.
