My husband, his sister and I stayed at this lovely house in November, 2012. Every room in the house looks out on Puget Sound, and every morning, Bald Eagles fly by, sometimes stopping to roost in trees on the property. We are birders, and enjoyed the gardens on the property because they are designed to attract birds and provide seeds and nectar for many species. We regularly saw Red Crossbills, Stellar’s Jays, Sapsuckers and Woodpeckers, Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Mountain and Chestnut-backed Chickadees, White-crowned and Golden-crowned sparrows, several species of loons and grebes, many gulls, finches, warblers, a pine grosbeak, and hundreds of pine siskins. Snowy Owls were reported nearby, though we weren’t lucky enough to see one. Below the house, a family of sea otters played everyday in in the waters near shore. The owners have provided a scope and binoculars for viewing.
The best feature of the house is the sunroom. Though it was cold outside at times, the sunroom was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Every day we were there (three weeks), we arose early so we could enjoy sunrise at this very beautiful spot. In November, it gets dark very early in Pt. Ludlow, and we tried to always be home at sunset so we could watch the stars appear, and the light of the moon rising on Puget Sound. Being from Southern California, we don’t see lots of rain, so we really enjoyed the storms as they passed over the Puget Sound. Everything about this location is spectacular. This is truly a place to renew your spirit.
Everything you need is available in this house and the owners are very attentive if there is a problem. I know this because we telephoned them because the television in the bedroom was not working. They immediately wanted to come to fix the problem. However, we really didn’t need a television in the bedroom, so we told them that wasn’t necessary. We have every confidence that had we wanted the TV to work, we’d have had one.
One thing not mentioned in the house description is access to a garage for parking one’s car. It rained a lot while we were there, and the garage was so handy. We could get in and out without getting wet, and the car was always dry and quickly warmed when we would get into it in the morning.
The neighborhood is wonderful. Every night, rain or not, we took a walk in the neighborhood. We met so many nice people while we were out walking, saw numerous deer (they also walked right beneath the
