Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Maida Vale - Warrington Crescent V
2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home brings country charm and city finesse together
City meets country
In Maida Vale there’s a lull in London’s bustle – pretty period terraces back onto green spaces, and the banks of the Thames are lined with trees. And this all adds to the character of Warrington Crescent V, where white walls and wood floors have a fresh, bright feel. Pastel-toned armchairs and nature-inspired artworks complete the impression, while a seat at the dining table or on the sitting room’s tweed sofa affords a view of the beautiful shared garden.
The quiet life
Your hosts, a lawyer and a retired music industry executive, enjoy London’s vibrant culture but are also keen on more restful recreations. They love the tranquillity of Maida Vale, and have designed their London home to echo the area’s sense of calm.
It’s not all country-inspired pleasantries inside Warrington Crescent V – you’ll find elements of the city’s sleekness too. The airy kitchen’s glossy fittings are ultra-modern, and both the sparkling bathrooms are just as contemporary. Even the double bedroom, with its simple Picasso print and serene garden view, has a neat desk equipped with an Apple Mac computer (which you’re welcome to use). And the independent shops and smart restaurants of Maida Vale mean that it’s also packed with urban pleasures, while Notting Hill is just a short walk away when you’re ready for the crowds.

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Maida Vale
There is nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. And Maida Vale is the perfect place to do it. This is where the Grand Union Canal peters out in the Paddington Basin and joins the Regent's Canal, the former stretching as far north as Birmingham and the latter eventually meandering into Limehouse Basin in East London. With slender houseboats gently rocking and weeping willows sweeping the water, the locals call this area Little Venice – the gondoliers might be missing, but the Neapolitan pizzas at the Red Pepper on Formosa Street should sate any Italianate longings.
The Victorian mansions might be handsome and the area around Warwick Avenue has harboured famous names from David Ben Gurion to Alan Turing, but it's the waterways that provide the flavour of the neighbourhood (sorry, Duffy). At the Canal Café Theatre, the world's longest-running live comedy show, the News Revue, continues every Thursday through to Sunday, with luvvies having replaced the navvies having a pint of ale in the next-door Bridge House Pub – where better to enjoy a few tales from the canal bank.
