Fjell Blikk Hytte is situated on seven forested acres with spectacular views of the Tanana Valley and the Alaska Range. The log lodge and guest house offer a choice of accommodations to suite your family or larger groups.
The main floor of the log lodge features a great room with 22-foot ceilings, massive fireplace, dining area to seat 10/12, fully equipped kitchen, breakfast area, two bedrooms and one full bath. The Guest House is a custom designed frame building with four bedrooms - each with private bath, and a great room with living, dining and kitchen areas. The master suite has a walk in closet and a private deck. The first floor bedroom is HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE, and also has a private deck. Every room in the house has wonderful views. Both houses feature period furnishings, a collection of antique quilts, laundry facilities and cable television.

I am the Director of the North Star Ballet Co. in Fairbanks Alaska. I've lived in Fairbanks for the past 22 years and can provide lots of information on where to go and what to see.
Friends from California came for a visit - they enjoyed it so much that after their stay they suggested I open a Vacation Rental so that some of their friends could have an Alaskan experience!
We spent 4 nights at the Knoll house during our two week trip to Alaska and this was our favorite of the accommodations. It's too stinking cute for words! We hadn't seen many pictures of Knoll before we arrived but were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The house was well appointed, well cared for, decorated very nicely and was very welcoming. We enjoyed the views too!
A previous reviewer complained about limited water during their stay...at check in Norman explained to us that they have a water tank to provide water and that he is happy to get more water whenever you need it, but please be conservative. We were 5 people, 4 nights and we never ran out! If you are environmentally conscious this is a non-issue.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to come back one day to see the northern lights! I wouldn't hesitate to book here again! My only suggestion would be to add a good mixing bowl & measuring cups to the kitchen....I think those were the only two items I needed but couldn't find - they very well could have been there and I just overlooked them. A hair dryer would have also been a nice addition :)
Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home, we had a lovely time!
We kicked off our Alaska vacation by staying in both of these magnificent homes. As a family of 18, we needed plenty of room and were so pleased with the accommodations and amenities these homes offered. In addition, the owner was amazing to work with. We could not have been happier with our stay.
A team of research scientists and educators stayed here for 2 weeks while studying the Aurora. This house well exceeded our expectations as did Norman - He was great! Every time we had a question he was quick to reply and he was very attentive the whole time we were there. The pictures do not to it justice - the house is gorgeous. We hope to come back next year and would stay here again without hesitation. Its close to everything in Fairbanks and the view is phenomenal!
My husband and I stayed in both Fjell Blikk Hytte houses: the main log house called ‘Fjell’, and the guest house, called ‘Knoll’. Both places were beautiful and very well kept. Lovely views. Beautiful interiors. Close to town and lots of sites. Very roomy. We hope to go back and take more of our family. Nothing around there like these!
First of all, let's be clear. There are in fact 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. However, those bedrooms and bathrooms are split amongst the 2 homes.
The gem of the 2 homes only has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Not to mention that Norman (the caretaker) lives downstairs (not disclosed until we after we made our reservations) and isn't adverse to walking up the interior stairs into your living area unannounced and without knocking. Not cool. Seems like a nice man, though. Still . . .
The 2nd house is a short walk down the road and has 4 bedrooms, each with a bath. Unfortunately, or fortunately if you are mobility impaired, the downstairs shower contains the toilet as well and has a drainage problem. This house is also prone to running out of water. The other house only ran out of hot water.
The views were beautiful . . . but you've been warned.
This is a lovely comfortable house in a great location. We used it as a base for exploring Fairbanks, Artic Circle, Denali and beyond. Everything is there for a comfortable stay and the property is spectacular. Denali ( Mt Mckinley)was viewable from the porch two afternoons. We have rented properties around the world and this one was the tops.
