This holiday is for nature lovers who do not want the view of the park and be away from the crowds (the Grand Massif ski area is 4 km away on the other side) to enjoy the mountain. The altitude to be guaranteed in winter above cloud cap which covers the valley. All activities are possible, lounging in the high mountain meadows (we can offer you a mountain guide).
Chantemerle is a village which is part of the town of Samoens, 4 km away. A footpath connects Chantermerle village in 15 minutes downhill and 30 minutes uphill. It also goes through mountain biking.
This beautiful area is protected and therefore has not been spoiled by tourism. Samoens received a "Golden Rooster" to be one of the most beautiful villages in France and is the only ski resort classified by the Caisse des Monuments Historiques. The ski area is part of the Grand Massif, one of the largest in Europe and with an excellent snow record with skiing 1600m. It is directly linked to Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt, ideal for all levels of the 265 km of slopes. In summer, the resort is evivante with many activities and the cable runs in July and August and allows the transport of ATV.
The area is full of character and charm with its habitat and agriculture at heart, but still provides the center of almost every outdoor activity imaginable. Based in the beautiful valley of the river Giffre, the region offers spectacular scenery including mountain lakes, national parks and botanical and amazing wildlife gardens. A few minutes up the road to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval there are more than a dozen enormous waterfalls.
Ski: Le Grand Massif is the 4th largest ski area in France and has one of the lowest ratios lift beds ... so queues much smaller than other well know resorts. Samoens now has a high-speed elevator from 1600 to 2500 ... which means less queuing, less time on the lifts and more skiing!
We also offer fantastic alternative activities in the winter, so if you are not a skier there are many other exciting things to do, such as walking snowshoes from home for example ... a fantastic experience after which you can enjoy a delicious Savoyard meal.

Why Claire LUSTIG chose Samoens
This property has been bought by Claire's father in 1968. A diplomat, he was also an excellent carpenter who rebuilt the two houses in traditional style. The farm is modernized since july 2014.
What makes this chalet unique
Absolute calm. No cars. A sympathetic 7 farms hamlet. In winter you are away from the crowded sky resort which remains at a 15' drive and you stay above the cloud that clog the bottom of the valley.
