About Jennie & Neil Riding
Originally from Bolton and Liverpool we loved visiting Cumbria so much we decided to move there. Now we take great pleasure in providing the perfect base for our guests to explore the area we are so passionate about and we are happy to share our recommendations on request.
Jennie & Neil Riding purchased this cabin in 2013
Why Jennie & Neil Riding chose Ravenstonedale
The previous owner did not want to sell when we originally asked him and we went on to look at over 200 properties in the area which didn't measure up. We were beginning to lose hope when we were offered first refusal and of course we snapped their hand off!!
We knew that all the things we loved about the lodges- the fact that they are so private unlike holiday parks, they are walking distance from two pub restaurants, situated close enough to explore the National Parks but far away enough from the maddening crowds, the extensive grounds and beautiful aspect of the site- would also be loved by our guests and they are!
What makes this cabin unique
Our guests are greeted with a welcome tea/coffee tray with cut flowers, fresh milk and a baked treat so you can make yourselves at home straight away. The lodge has been decorated in an individual and luxurious style, think crisp white sheets and big comfy sofas, with the added feature of a private outdoor hot tub on the decking.
Nature provides the outdoor entertainment with red squirrels and sheep putting on a show whilst the vast array of birds, such as curlews, lapwings and song thrush, provide the musical accompaniments. When night falls the star come out for a finale- you can see the milky way on a clear night.
Within the seven acres there is a children's playground and a wildlife pond. For off site adventures there is an folder full of inspiration for days out and pamphlets for local walks, some of which begin right from the doorstep of your lodge. Previous guests' favourite walk is the one mile scenic walk on quiet country lanes down to the village to the two pubs- torches are provided in your lodge if you decide to stay there for a while!
