About Rosa

We are a young couple in our 40s and still blooming. Rosa works as a translator and is fluent both in English and Italian. Stavros, after a B.Sc, an M.B.A. and a M.Sc. In Marketing at the Universities of Lancaster and UMIST in England, and 15 years of very active service as an export sales manager for some of the biggest wine companies in Greece, now spends more time with his family, owning a taxi service and providing his services as a tour and a trekking guide. We have a young daughter, Danae, age 12, who enjoys swimming in the gently sloping, shallow beach of Schinias, from mid April, up to (occasionally) beginning of December!

Why Rosa chose Athens

Indulge yourself in our picturesque home directly above the Aegean Sea. Enjoy the cool waters of our nearby sandy beach. Drink your chilled daiquiri and relax in our veranda with bird-eye, Santorini-like views.

What makes this villa unique

-WHAT TO DO DURING OUR STAY? PLACES TO SEE

That is totally up to you. You could enjoy the sea and spend the day in oriental laziness, or you could try some of the various water activities (including water surfing and jet ski), offered in the crystal clear waters of Schinias Beach.

There is always the possibility of visiting nearby Marathon historic site, the archaeological site of Ramnous and the Marathon Museum, having Stavros as your personal guide.

You can spend the entire day in Athens, visiting Acropolis, the Archaeological Museum, picturesque Plaka with its numerous taverns, Lycabetus Hill for an overwhelming view of the city and so many more.

For short tours around Athens, there is the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, with its unique sunset, the Kutuki cave at mount Hymetus, the Temple of Artemis at Vravrona.

Where Do We Dine?

There are many fish and grilled meat taverns at a 3 minutes drive from our house, where you can enjoy excellent food at the edge of the sea, feeling the soft sand under your bare feet. At Nea Makri you can dine in a vast variety of restaurants. You also have the possibility of ordering pizza delivered at home, or you can ask Rosa to cook for you her famous, irresistible moussaka!

Night Life

Cinemas, beach bars and clubs at a 3-20 minute drive, or a quiet stroll along the little harbor of Nea Makri. That is, provided there is no full moon, because, in that case, you will most certainly prefer to enjoy your drink in our candle lit veranda.

What to Pack

Only your bathing suits, clothing, personal items, sunscreen lotion and dozens of films. We’ll provide linen and towels, road maps, isothermal bags to keep your fruit cold, snorkeling gear for your dives. If you are trekking oriented, please bring a pair of sturdy shoes and a lot of anticipation!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Stavros--

Remember us? You're favorite taxi clients, I'm sure!

Well, you were definitely our favorite taxi driver, and we want to thank you for all your help. It was really fun getting to know you and our trip was much richer from the time we spent with you. We meant it when we said that you are welcome to visit us in Colorado! We have great skiing! Hope you and your family are doing well. Tell Danai (sp?) hi from Annabelle! Thanks again.

Going to Greece was the fulfillment of a long-held dream. I cannot think of a better introduction to the country, its people and its culture than that we experienced through Rosa’s and Stavros’ warm hospitality and friendly guidance. Our stay at Aeolos was very comfortable, the views from the terrace were incredible, and the breakfasts were memorable. We ventured on three tours and were rewarded with exhilarating adventure, visits to the glorious antiquities of ancient Greece, and many indulgences in traditional Greek food and custom.

Not only will I recommend all this to anyone planning a vacation in Greece, I sincerely hope that I will return one day to this wonderful villa overlooking the Aegean.

  • 5 out of 5
The House is a great place to feel at home, the view is outstanding and the fantastic Terrace was our favorite place to read, eat and enjoying the view and the sun. Everything was perfect and Rosa and Stavros are great hosts. We will come back for sure to enjoy the beaches, the delicious food and the lovely people again very soon.

Beautiful Agean Villa

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed for twelve days in this beautiful villa. The home was very clean and we had everything we needed at our disposal. The area was quiet and serene. Waking up in the morning to the beautiful sunrises and the nighttime sunsets was amazing. Looking out from the upper balcony there is a beautiful expanse of blue, blue sea. Some of the bluest and clearest waters we've ever seen.

We took an Athens tour with Stavros and were so happy we did. With all the knowledge he has of the area and Greek history he made it come alive and we were able to see and appreciate it so much more. I highly recommended taking one or more of his tours. We left wishing we had taken more with him, but we enjoyed staying in the villa so much we couldn't drag ourselves away.

Rosa and Stavros were wonderful. I can't say enough about these two people. We felt all our needs were met and then some. Stavros even went and got antibiotic cream, antiseptic bandwidths, and wraps when I was getting an infection from deep blisters I got in Rome from all the walking. He took us to the grocery store upon our arrival in Marathon for supplies and made sure we knew where it was located, as well as a lovely bakery and nearby restaurant with wonderful food. Rosa made sure we had everything we needed for laundry, cooking, and refreshments.

I could say so much more about the villa and these wonderful people, but I will leave it to you to find out for yourselves. You won't be disappointed!!!

wonderful villa

  • 5 out of 5
Stunning views to go along with wonderful owners, Rosa and Stavros. Stayed here for 4 nights in summer of 2010 during our vacation to Greece. If you're looking for a quiet location away from the chaos of Athens, this is your place. After driving from the airport to the national park in our rented car (which I do recommend you have if staying here), Rosa met us at the bottom of the hill to escort us the rest of the way. She had coffee and other refreshments ready as she showed us around this beautiful villa. The villa is everything advertised and more. Suffering from jet lag the first morning and not being able to sleep, I sat in the living room and watched the sun rise over Evia Island through the expansive windows overlooking the Aegean Sea. While the nearby sandy beach was a bit of a let down the day we were there due to winds and clouds, the rocky coast at the bottom of the hill was great fun as we jumped off the rocks and swam in the refreshing water. The taverna Rosa recommended provided one of the best meals we've ever had eating out, and the local white wine was excellent. With markets close by, we were able to buy products and cook meals using the well stocked kitchen when didn't want to eat out. We hired Stavros to show us Athens and experienced the city in ways we never could have imagined. Along with visiting the main historical sights, Stavros took us into the back streets of the city where people live their everyday lives. Plus he was able to fit in whatever specific places we wanted to see. Absolutely the best way to see the city that he is so proud of. We didn't have to worry about driving (which is a terrifying experience in Athens) or parking or anything else. Highly recommend using Stavros for whatever tours you are interested in taking. We also spent a half day touring the local Marathon area, visiting the burial mound and the local archeological museum on our own before traveling to Santorini and Cyprus. If you're looking for a lot of clubs and night life, look somewhere else. While it's not completely isolated, this villa is more about solitude and relaxation with some excellent local opportunities for eating and recreation and Athens being close enough to include in your itinerary.
