Jacaranda House is a self catering holiday villa situated on a ridge adjoining a bird sanctuary with magnificent panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea over it's own tiled 30ft pool with infinity edge, all of which gives it a great wow factor. Don't take our word - see below what the guests have said. Some of Tobago's best beaches are within 5 minutes drive as is the Mt Irvine championship golf course. The house is airy and spacious with high ceilings, cool floor tiles, wrap around veranda and folding louvre doors on three sides which let the prevailing breezes sweep through. A lovely honey coloured stone deck surrounds the pool on three sides and further grassed parts lead into shaded areas to provide a wide choice of sunning facilities. It is ideal for families with children, adults wanting to unwind and rest, newly weds want a romantic place and for the younger set it is an ideal base from which to go water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, riding, etc. in fact it is ideal for all.
Location: Jacaranda House is ideally located in the south eastern end of Tobago, being within 20 minutes of the airport and Scarborough, the capital. Close by are the Mt Irvine championship golf course, PADI dive centres, sailing, deep sea fishing and 4 of the best beaches in Tobago. Shops, from supermarkets to stalls, are all nearby including fish from the sea every afternoon; further away are the Scarborough market, delicatessen and meat straight from the farm!
House Layout: The upper floor of Jacaranda House is open plan with living, dining and kitchen areas all sharing the panoramic views on three sides, plus the master bedroom. Downstairs are two bedrooms with en-suite shower/bathrooms looking over the pool and the sea. A fourth room, the TV/library room, has 2 spare sofa beds, and opens onto the garden. In front is the pool with its vanishing edge and sun loungers, and a lawn area with table, chairs and umbrella and a shaded area under a bougainvillea roof. A further garden area with fruit trees is at the side.
Things to do: The best beaches are on the Caribbean side and a few of the best are overlooked by Jacaranda House. Immediately below is Stonehaven or Grafton Beach and within 5 minutes drive are Turtle, Mt Irvine and Grange beaches. Pigeon Point, the quintessential Caribbean beach with those magical colours, is 20 minutes drive and Englishman's Bay, the beach with no buildings in sight, is 30 minutes drive. Good snorkeling can be had around the rocks of most beaches and Tobago has excellent scuba diving with several PADI approved dive schools – some of the best dives are at Speyside at the north end of the island. Tobago has the oldest national park in the World, centred on the rain forest down the middle of the island where you can get guides to take you on trails looking at the wonderful bird life. There are excellent windsurfing facilities at Pigeon Point with regular breezes all the time. There is horse riding and you can hire bicycles locally. There are plenty of restaurants nearby
I am sure you will be pleased to know that our stay in Tobago ranked among the very best of the (now many) family holidays that we have had. All the properties we stayed in were very special and all quite different and we loved Jacaranda House. The views were fantastic, the house itself really quite unique and the pool really speical - we had an unforgettable time there, and were very sad to leave. Also - very appreciative of the help and advice that you offered before we went - it was very useful and much appreciated.
We are hoping to come back to Tobago next year
My family and I stayed at this villa for two weeks and had a lovely time. The villa itself is mainly open plan and has far reaching views of the caribbean sea which is absolutely gorgeous. It has everything you will need during your stay although the cooker only has two settings which took some getting used to. Jacaranda house is situated within walking distance to a variety of shops, bar and restaurant although if you hire a car there are many more within a short drive. The villa comes with a housekeeper (Ulin) and a night watchman (Mr Alexander), they are both lovely people who will make you feel at home with their fun personalities and cheery smiles. There was plenty of wildlife at the villa during our stay so this could be seen as a plus or minus depending on your outlook and the variety of birds seen were amazing.
The island of tobago is breath taking and you will be spoilt for choice by the many beaches there. You could think they were private as none were overcrowded and the views went on for miles.Would recommend hiring a car so you can see the whole island and get a taste of tobago.
Jacaranda house provides you with a lovely place to stay where you can relax with family or friends but if you like nightlife this is never far away.
I would also like to point out what great customer service i received from the owner before we travelled it was invaluable. He was always available to answer questions however trivial.
Would definitely recommend this villa as we had such a great time both in and out of the pool and as i have already said it makes a great base as its within easy reach of many beaches and other amenities.
Jacaranda house was better than I had imagined! The house is beautiful, with a nice private pool and panoramic views of the ocean. This villa is perfect for people looking for a relaxing vacation where you can either cook meals at the house or go out to restaurants close by.
The property was very well-maintained, and the housekeeper was very knowledgeable and helpful. The owner provided great customer service in the weeks leading up to our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone staying on the island of Tobago!
If you're there on a Sunday night, you have to check out "Sunday School" in Buccoo. It's a fun party that has a good mix of locals and tourists, all dancing to the sound of a steel pan band. It was the highlight of our trip!
I spent a week with friends in Jacaranda House. It was perfect! The house was everything I expected and hoped for. It's very well designed and unique - the master bedroom, kitchen, living and dining rooms are on the first floor with open verandahs and spectacular, uninterrupted views of the sea. The other bedrooms are on the ground floor and also have views out to sea The garden is full of exotic plants, including an amazing bougainvillea which attract the birds. There are plenty of sun loungers. The pool is deep enough for diving and long enough for doing lengths!
During our stay we were looked after brilliantly by Ulin, the housekeeper. She's an amazing cook too.
Tobago has many beaches and plenty of opportunities for water sports. The restaurants are varied in cuisine and price - from beach shacks to fine dining! Our favourite was The Fish Pot just below the house - the freshest fish you'll ever find and at really reasonable prices.
I can really recommend Tobago and Jacaranda House in particular.
"What can you say about this villa that has not been said, put it this way a few years ago i stayed nearby at santuary villas and thought that was lovely, i also went to a restaurant called the stonehaven pavillion where the views were out of this world. Well all this changed when i stayed at Jacaranda, the views were simply stunning and the space was fantastic, so good were the views i went to the same restaurant, and it was the food that myself and friends talked about and not the views.
The maid service was fab also, a meal was waiting for us when we arrived a lovely local dish, all we had to do was heat it up spot on after a long trip, the money was irrelevant about £12.00 for 4 of us plus ingredients.
The beds were changed daily and the villa was cleaned everyday. Ulin was her name, or mum would be also a good name as she is so kind and thoughtful.
The owners were very helpful right up to the point of going giving us all the info we could possibly need.
Not a lot more i can say really apart from go on about the island which i love, another must for anyone is Castara beach heaven on earth with views to die for and a bar of pure delight.
See you soon. "
Our stay at Jacaranda House on Tobago was excellent and the property lived up to expectations. The views from the property are stunning and are better than indicated by the website pictures. The layout of Jacaranda House is fine with the living rooms on the top floor opening up onto a large balcony with 180 views. The property is well equipped. The furniture and fittings in the house are fine but could be considered functional rather than luxurious but this I believe is typical of properties on Tobago. The arrangements made by the owner and the local management company worked like clockwork and could not be faulted.
We would recommend Tobago and the property, in particular for those wanting a relaxing/quieter holiday. There are many beautiful beaches which when we were there were virtually deserted except those near the airport. We are a family of golfers and the two golf courses were fine with the main advantage that they were very quiet compared with Spain`or Portugal.
The only issue, which was a surprise was the cost of eating out which was higher than we expected. In part a reflection of the low value of the pound. However if you are happy to do some cooking you can buy fish on a nearby beach direct from the fisherman. The best tuna we have ever eaten.
Overall one of our best holidays and we will certainly return to Tobago and Jacaranda House.
Jacaranda house is located on the Caribbean side between the Mount Irvine golf course and Grafton/Gran Courland hotel beaches at Stonehaven Bay. Four of the best beaches are located within 5 minutes drive of the house. Shops, supermarkets, dive centres, ATMs, are all within 10 minutes drive and the airport and banks within 20.
Other Activities: Bird watching
Golf: The Mt Irvine golf course is a mature 6,793 yard, par 72 international championship course set in 127 acres of naturally terraced land dropping to the sea. The result is both a challenging and a scenic course. Considered by many as one of the finest courses in the Caribbean. The facilities are excellent and include buggies. Green fees: currently US$50 or US$300 for a week.
More recently opened is the Tobago Plantations Golf and Country Club. This also is a par 72 international PGA designed course running to 7,009 yards and is located on the Atlantic side, near the Magdelena Hotel, and has a good mix of links and parkland holes.
