A 2 bedroom spacious lodge ( can sleep 6) set in a tranquil woodland.

The Garden lodge is a cosy yet spacious and bright space to be in, located in the lower part of a Swiz style wooden house. The lodge has been newly decorated with a modern feel.

There are two rooms bed rooms, one double and one twin room. The double room has a beautiful wooden bed with a sweet Kath Kidston feel to it, with views of the woodland. The other room is slightly smaller with 2 single beds perfect for two children and a little space which can also sleep another child, or the two single can be changed into a king double bed for another couple. There are also two double sofa beds which can be made up for another 4 people.

If you do book with us please can you ensure you forward us your bedding requirements so we can leave out the appropriate items. This would be a great help thank you xx

The Kitchen, dining area and lounge are all open plan which lead onto the deck. The kitchen is fully equipped with Fridge, Freezer, induction hob, and all kitchen equipment. The bathroom consists of a corner bath with shower, toilet and sink. There is a lovely wood burner, we don't provide logs but they can be purchased on site. There is a T.V and Wi-fi should you need it.

The tranquil garden lodge is situated in 3 acres of woodland surrounded by an enormous amount of wildlife such as the famous red squirrels, birds, dragonflies, butterflies and many other wonderful creatures.

Whilst being set in a tranquil woodland setting the Garden Lodge is not far from the beach, the village, transport routes making it easily accessible from the mainland.. The beach and local pub is just a 10 minute walk away and Quarr Abbey with its beautiful architecture and gardens as well as lovely tea rooms selling home made delights is only a 15 minute walk.

This retreat is only a 5 minute drive from the Wightlink car ferry, a direct link to Portsmouth making commuting here from the mainland very easy. Its a perfect get away for families or couples with lots of things to do on the Isle of Wight or just a hide away retreat.

This type of place would suit people who are looking for an eco-friendly type of holiday. I ask that you bring eco-friendly washing up and liquid and laundry soap. I do not accept smoking in or around the grounds and we do not accept large single party bookings such as stag or hen parties. This would suit people who are looking for tranquillity and peace. During the winter months you are welcome to use the log burner but we would request that you purchase your own wood or bring it with you.

There is a yoga studio and classes are offered at an extra price. All linen and towels are provided at no extra cost. I also provide art classes also at an extra cost. Guest are asked to arrive after 4pm and leave by 10am.

This super little hideaway is perfect for those nature lovers amongst you or those who are looking to get away from it all. A hassle free experience. We look forward to meeting you. With love from all the Woodland Retreat.

You then take the first left which is located on the first bend you come to which if you carried on would veer around to the right. You don't go around the bend but take the left down the little hill on the bend. You keep to the left and you will see a sign called 'The Plantation' keep to the left and you will arrive on the drive. Once in the take the first left and park to the right of the garage and to the left of the veggie patch. There is room for two cars in this area and parking is free.

About Clare Matthews

I grew up in this beautiful house amongst this tranquil woodland. My Father built the house for our family to live in. He used the wood from the land and even built some of the house with a tree that had fallen from Osborne House. The lodge part of the house is so cute and cosy as well as bright and clean. Its a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I love living here it is truly blissful.

Beautiful retreat

Absolutely beautiful place! We had a wonderful time. The lodge was clean and bright. If it was chilly we would light the wood burning stove that was fun in itself. The owner was extremely helpful and lovely. My children loved exploring the woods, nearby Fishbourne and Wootton. We found travelling around the island on the buses very easy from our location.

Enchanting

Clare met us and gave us a full run through of the workings of apartment and gave us a file of all amenities around. We can recommend the Chinese takeaway. Our party, four adults one baby, plenty of room for all, inc our own travel cot. Please adhere to the Eco rules of the place as to not spoil it for everyone else. Weather was against us, but managed to have some time sitting on the porch in the sun waiting to see the red squirrels in the trees that surround the apartment which gives you the feeling of being miles from anywhere. Our king size bed was very comfy, I went out like a light! You will hear someone moving in the upstairs property, if you can just ignore that, you will have a really lovely holiday, I just hope you won't book when we would like to visit again! PS: if there is something you require that is not on Clare's facilities list, ask her to see if she can help eg, for us she organised a TV and microwave. Thanks again Clare xx

Peaceful surroundings

Clare, the owner, gave us a lovely warm welcome to the ground floor apartment, which had everything we needed. The rooms were clean & the beds were very comfy! My children loved the little hidy nook in their room! The garden was peaceful, with dragonflies, butterflies, bees & birds. The patio is a great little sun-trap! Unfortunately, we didn't spot any squirrels. All in all, this is a lovely place to stay.
