The house is modern and well insulated against the sometimes blustery weather of the far North West! It is furnished to a high standard in a modern contemporary style with hard flooring and rugs.
The open plan living and dining area with large wood burning stove is the heart of the house and a great place to start and end the day!
Quinag is also our holiday home so you will find many extras here that you wouldn't normally expect in a holiday rental such as a DVD library, books, games and artwork on the walls.
There is an activities guide along with local OS maps, walking books and suggested walks.
The local shop Achiltibuie Stores carries a wide range of stock along with locally sourced fish, meat and organic veg. You can also fill up on fuel and get the papers.
There are several cafes in the area along with two pub/bistros at The Fuaran and The Summer Isles Hotel. The hotel also has a formal dining room - a great place to celebrate a special occasion! The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the house. Achiltibuie also benefits from a wonderful hall where local and visiting musicians play regularly.
The Coigach peninsula is a favourite destination for walkers but is also favoured by anglers: deep sea, trout and salmon; sea kayakers and rock climbers and any of these activities can be arranged locally as can boat trips to the Summer Isles.
The area is also frequented by photographers and geologists and short and long walks led by geologists run through the summer months.
For those who enjoy a walk on the beach you won't be disappointed with the wonderful wide open expanse of beach at Achnahaird and the views from here to the mountains of Coigach and Assynt or you may like to take a stroll from the house down to the beach and pier at Badentarbet to cast a line.
