The Loft is located, down a quiet leafy lane within the grounds of Castle Espie House which dates back to 1860. The house is set within 5 acres of mature gardens and beside the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. All the rooms overlook our private lake with views over the WWT lagoons and onwards to beautiful Strangford Lough.

The historic small town of Comber (from the Irish an Comar - meaning the confluence) is a bustling market town with important historic links to RMS Titanic, whose designer Thomas Andrews came from Comber. The Andrews Family made Comber a centre of linen production and grain processing.

Our nearest large town is Newtownards where you visit Scrabo Tower and a short scenic drive away is a stunning National Trust Property, Mount Stewart.

Only 5 miles from The Loft is Mahee Island where you can play golf on the 9-hole course and afterwards visit the Monastic ruins dating back to the 5th century.

After a game of golf, why not visit The Old Schoolhouse owned by chef Will Brown. Its located ten minutes walk from the Loft and Will cooks using the best of local produce enjoyed in a cosy bistro setting.

The Mountains of Mourne are 40 minutes drive away with many hiking, mountain biking trails and stunning views.

Castle Ward is another nearby National Trust Property with an outdoor adventure centre. All sorts of fun activities can be arranged here for example canoeing, archery, orienteering, sea safaris, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and lots more.

So if its enjoying the plentiful bird life and stunning views of Strangford Lough, a game of golf or a cosy base from which to explore the beautiful drumlin countryside of County Down, you are assured of a warm welcome at the Loft.
