This stylish apartment forms part of an imposing recently restored Georgian town house, built in 1792. Originally the servant's quarters with its own separate entrance, it is near the seafront and just 100 metres from the harbour with a small outside courtyard area which sits discreetly below the well kept gardens of Albion Place opposite.
The accommodation offers a spacious lounge/dining area, well equipped newly fitted kitchen, a unique fully tiled bathroom which has been built into the house's cellarage and a comfortable double bedroom positioned at the rear of the property with a king-size bed which can be split into twin beds. Beds are made up with good quality cotton linen, bath and hand towels are included and the apartment has been comfortably furnished with a mix of the owner's antique furniture, artwork and artefacts, so feels very homely. We live in Ramsgate and work in Margate, where we have a large showroom specialising in French Decorative Antiques. We spent ten years living and working in France, developing our knowledge of antiques as well as running a small hotel!.
The property caught our eye one day with a large hand-written 'For Sale' poster in the window placed by it's old and very reluctant vendor. This vast Georgian townhouse overlooking the fantastic Ramsgate coastline seemed like the perfect home - our only challenge was to convince the owner to sell it to us, neighbours tell us that many had tried!
We both love Georgian architecture - this admiration began during our time in London with some of the East End houses there, especially the Huguenot houses of Spitalfields.
The Grade II listed house is part of a terraced Georgian garden square with it's listed Victorian 'rocks' and waterfall. Due to it's elevated position, the views are quite incredible and you'll even get a level eye view of the sea from the apartment. Access to the town, it's shops, bars and restaurants and of course the seafront and harbour is fantastic.
