Apartment IV sleeps two people and is a non-smoking apartment.
The property is on the 4th floor of a historic building from 1374, no elevator.
It is situated just a couple of minutes walk from Mozart's birthplace in the pedestrian area of Salzburg's Old Town. All the famous coffee houses and restaurants, together with the best shops and boutiques are right on your doorstep.
It was completely renovated in 2011 allowing for a 21st century lifestyle in a 14th century house.
We stayed in Apartment IV for 4 nights in September 2012. We selected this place based on three factors: the location, the fast and informative responses from Gabi, and reviews from other Trip Advisor traverers. And we are glad we stayed here!
The location is perfect. It is in the middle of walking town, and still close to public transportations. Billa (the supermarket) is nearby, and all of the Salzburg main sites are within walking distance. But I must admit that walking up 4 flights of stairs can be a bit challenging after a long day... and definitely will make you think twice about going back during the day for a quick rest. Floors 1 - 3 were a bit scary for me... felt like I was in an old church. But as soon you reach your unit, you immediately feel like you have arrived your "home away from home".
The room is very spacious, quiet and charming, but no view. Both the kitchen and the bathroom are roomy and modern (which are important!). Wifi works well too. it is a very lovely unit to be in.
Igor was very helpful when we arrived. He greeted us and helped us with questions regarding transportations, supermaket, sites... Thank you Igor!
We will definitely stay here again when we visit Salzburg. Maybe choose a different room for a change of decor?
So if stairs is not an issue, I recommend to stay here!
These spacious apartments, centrally located on Brodgasse 3, were recommended by a friend. My 2 teenage sons and I stayed in apartments III and IV for three nights. They were beautifully furnished, very comfortable and the kitchens well-equipped including with washing machine, pod-style coffee machines, new cook ware and plenty of crockery and cutlery. While ours didn't have a dishwasher, at least one of the other apartments did. The only thing missing was a bath. Books, DVDs, tourist brochures are also provided. Highly recommended.
The apartment was everything we needed to make our stay in Salzburg a wonderful experience. The arrival information provided by Gabi was clear and helpful. We were met by Igor the housekeeper who told us everything we needed to know about the apartment and the surrounding area ( the centre of the old town ) We shall have no hesitation in booking one of Gabi's apartments the next time we are in Salzburg. Superb. This apartment may have been the highlight of our stay in Salzburg. To say we were happy to find this apartment is putting it mildly. It is special, better equipped than any hotel room, and reasonably priced.
It could not be more centrally located. You are immersed in the buzz of a lively market area only steps from the door. Many of the town’s other attractions are in easy walking distance. There is also a place to rent bikes nearby for the chance to explore a bit further out.
We walked from the train station easily in about 15 minutes (although if you have many bags this may be a bit too long) and did not have too much difficulty finding tiny Brodgasse Street. We did not wait more than a moment before being greeted like visiting friends by Igor who was leaning out of the window above. The building houses a nifty bookshop on the ground floor, beside which are enormous black doors leading to the apartments. Inside, the entryway and corridors feel very much like an 800 year old house should, solid and full of history. There is not denying there are four flights of stairs to climb, but truthfully we enjoyed climbing them and exploring the uniqueness of each landing. That said, if you have any trouble with stairs this sadly may not be for you. (Or if your the type who discovers you have to use the bathroom after you’ve left the house ;).
The apartment itself is a pleasing counterpoint to the ancient building. It has been renovated with ultra modern appliances and shower, but still retains details of its past such as gorgeous wood beams, casement windows, and decorative wrought iron hinges. (Hint: the stove is so modern you might want Igor to show you how it works. He offered, but we assumed we’d have no trouble figuring it out. We were mistaken). There is a nice sized flat screen TV with cable and a blu-ray player (but just one movie). Usually we don’t much care if there is a TV, but we so enjoyed just relaxing in the apartment that we were glad to have it as an option (and did end up watching the entire Bourne Identity trilogy that was in the apartment).
In addition there is a small washer and dryer down the hall which was handy, but the dryer is quite slow. There is a Billa supermarket near the river (about 5 minutes away) and another one by the train station, but shop early because they do not stay open very late. I don’t know how frequently this takes place, but there was a farmer’s market one day we were there as well.
The apartment was excellent, with a large living room/bedroom. The kitchen was separate and was fully equipped. The shower room with toilet was very modern and the shower was superb.
Everything was clean and well maintained.
Free Wifi was an excellent addition
It is situated in the centre of the Old Town which meant that all was in very easy walking distance - couldn't be better placed.
Situated in a 14th Century building with a lot of character. You need to be able to walk up a lot of steps but this was no problem.
We had a very warm welcome from Igor, the housekeeper, who made us feel very welcome.
Gabi, the owner had done all she could to make our Apartment very welcoming.
Thanks for a lovely time - we would be very happy to come back sometime.
From two very grateful Welsh visitors
This apartment is in the best location. The apartment is very modern, yet it is in building from 1776. The apartment was so clean and confortable, we felt right at home. M and V from Beavercreek, OH
